Hello, I am new here, I have a questrion regarding Opeth's lyrics. i think they are fantasitc, but some of the seem anti-jewish. Like, i'm not sure if it's true or not, i thought i would ask though.
I thought it could be possoibel seeings as they are from Germany and have grandfathers and fathers who was Nazis

In the The Amen Corner, then amen corner was what Nazi's called jewsih shrine is death camps in
WORLD WAR TWO.
And the lyrics say

for those of you watching: judaism is a religion. jewish is considered both a religion and/or a "race" (there is no scientific evidence that shows there are different races, only different evolutionary adaptations of the same species - scientific american october 2003). a jew doesnt necessarily have to practice judaism. a white person or a black person or an asian can practice judaism but that doesnt make them a jew. i guess maybe it makes them jewish though. does that clear it up?

I think that's possibly the worst attempt at clearing something up I've ever seen.

I say leave him alone. English is his second language and he's been informed that Opeth is not in any way affiliated with the jewish community lyricly wise.
He has also been informed that Opeth are Swedes, not Germans.
Plus Akerfedlt said in the FAQ "The best interpretation [to the albums] is your own" and obviously he interpreted it in his own way, and although it may be different than what Akerfeldt inteaded it to be, it still is his interpretation.
Opeth are not anti-semetic Tunimental, they are a band that just tells stories through music. I myself find Nazism to be a bullshit belief, and trust me in the fact that Opeth are not neo-nazis, but are infact, a group of musical geniuses.
