A tad touchy, aren't we jr.?....

When you reveal a capacity for intelligent discussion uncolored by your ASSININE personal attacks, I'll consider reevaluating my impression of you. Until then, you have nothing of value to contribute to me. [my capitalization]

The correct spelling is asinine. You were wrong. Re-edit.

Down to combing through my posts searching for typos? How sad...

Now where are those "concrete points" of yours?

As for the original post, I think I shall leave it unchanged if it irritates you so...

well ac i guess you cant find peace anywhere..guess the visits to the slayer boards are all gonenow eh... On to the topic, right now opeth is in my top 5 . right now im heavly into all things swano. But try not to judge opeth so harshly AC , i still think there best work is ahead of them....i knew it would just be a matter of time b4 you would start to draw conflicts here nothing against you though its just your very out spoken.

AC, do you have a really high IQ? your like raven (if you ever watched wrestling) he speaks like that.

I've scored very highly on IQ tests, yes, though I don't think they're a fair measurement of intelligence. I know many people who I consider far more functionally intelligent than myself who don't score nearly as well on such tests as I do. I simply have the right skill set to excel on them. Those skills don't necessarily translate into effective "every day" intelligence.

I'm certainly never one to hold my opinions close to the vest...

Incidentally, Dan is a goddamn genius!

I don't dialogue with peevish historians with nothing better to do than be peevish. Besides, you added significantly since the last I read the post. You also mentioned that bit about being anal about typos-- just I thought I'd help you out.

In other words, you still haven't got any "concrete points;" but rather than conceding that, you've decided to hide behind a veneer of self-righteous indignation.

I also resent "peevish" sir! Curmudgeonly, yes! Peevish, no! Recognizing that these are, of course, essentially synonymous, I still must insist that any adjective applied to me properly reflect my age and gender. Young girls are peevish, male historians are curmudgeonly. Besides, I have no peeves. Well, with the possible exception of grossly sloppy grammar or any sort of "buzzword-centric" historical models. :D

This post has been altered yet again, this time for no particular reason.

I note that this board has a quite smoothely operating edit function, a bonus I much appreciate.

While I'll leave this battle of wits to itself, I have something to add to the Opeth/best band question.

While Opeth are an obviously amazing band, I don't think that emotion itself is a good enough reason for classing them as the best.

I tend to find My Dying Bride's work to be the MOST emotionally charged I've ever heard. In fact, throughout their history they have almost secured the crown in my opinion. Only a slim few stand in their way.

Now.... back to the battle....:heh:

I hesitate to reply to this post, as you've edited it three times now.

here's a question for you: what's the difference between being a curmudgeon and being childish? (serious question)

Very possibly true, and therein lies it's charm...

Female tits can be charming. Male tits are appalling.

Curmudgeonly = informed if irritating contrariness

Childish = "You're a fag if you like band X!" (or don't like band X as the case may be) Of course, the childish are rarely able to distinguish between "you're" and "your."

Incidentally, I'm considering editing the post again, if only out of sheer curmugeonry.

You know childishness encompasses curmudgeonry, and the "informed" bit of being "curmudgeonly" is an unrelated apposition. Thought you should know.

"Curmudgeonly" is earned through experience; it's the result of cynicism run amok. The "informed" bit is a necessary precondition for it's appearance. Childish doesn't really encompass it any more than it encompasses childish.

In any event, enough exercises in semantics. How about backing up your claims with the "concrete points" you once promised...

Not until you apologize for your ongoing childishness. ;)
