I fear this will still remain the case despite your valiant efforts. Unless you make a forum invite/approved access only, you'll always need to filter the wheat from the chaff I'm afraid. It's the way of the internet unfortunately. While I can think of a few forums that remain open and still amazingly focused and useful, the majority suffer from our current fate.

While Joey having his own forum is probably a good thing, my cynical side keeps thinking he and/or others with useful information will not embrace it, populate it, regularly respond and add to it with things like the helpful information that we have here, and it will wither on the vine while the quick hitters looking for instant gratification to simple ass (read easily searched for and found solutions) questions will continue to flood these forums with repeat/asked over and over posts ad nauseam.

I'm usually a "glass is half full" type guy, but in this case I suspect we've past the point of having this blight go away without some serious moderation efforts. One can hope however that it is this simple.

There's plenty of forums out there dedicated to people and run by others. I see nothing wrong with it, even though I don't think it will work/last.

I seem to remember someone doing this about a year ago, and it just died after a few days.

Atleast I think you should avoid calling anything "the official forum" when there actual is nothing official about it (correct?).. oh and also seems a bit weird you using his name as the user.

My thoughts exactly. Even Joey said that the Pod preset isn't necessarily correct either.

It's an awesome idea for a forum only if Joey plans on updating the site with legit information on his techniques, but I agree it might be a better idea to change your name to something other than Joey.

If you really wanna get trolls out fast, there should be a function to 'dislike' users, one vote per user (like the comments on YT). If enough people vote to dislike the troll -in a short amount of time-, it's a goner.
Can't be simpler than that.

Didn't really notice any sturgis fanboism going on lately with asking for stuff that has been answered 1 mill time. that OneDaysky dude was a normal troll it seemed, same for RandomOne.
I really don't get what all the hassle is about, Lasse kicked them out, done.
If the trolls wouldnt get that much attention from a lot of members all the dumb threads they make and resurrect would die a lot quicker.

Don't really get why you make the JS forum stuff now (again, didnt notice much or more fanboys lately) and I also don't think it will "solve" anything.

Yup, I think that's what people need to realize - this has been a long time coming, and people many times in the past year (at least) have suggested that Joey get his own forum. These most recent trolls were just the final catalyst, but you only need look at the Tact thread to see that these sentiments have been around for awhile, and I applaud Jason for at least trying to do something about it.

I mean, remember Veronicafails? He first came here because Joey was here, and he got banned for his endless Joey trolling - and there have been so many others that have done the same.

better yet, how about UM make a sturgis sub-forum? i can see why joey doesn't want to bother...i'm sure he has enough shit going on that he doesn't need to fuck with running his own forum - just make another subsection of this BB, and let the trolls all go that way

This forum is undergoing the inevitable change that will ultimately cause it to topple in on itself. No amount of segregation, or exclusion of certain members of the community will help. It's had a good run for several years now, and those of us around during the heyday are grateful, I'm sure. All of this other stuff feels unnecessary and over-dramatized.

In my opinion Joey is just as welcome to the forum as anyone else, you don't see people telling James Murphy or Mark Lewis to go get their own forums.

Granted we don't have the issue with their fanboys on the site, but isn't this what we have mods for? To keep the trolls/uberfanboys at bay?
