Ok, for years and years I have heard countless people sing the praises of Kings X. I have tried listening to them many times and I just don't get it. I don't dislike them or think they suck. I just don't understand what the big love affair is with them. Thoughts?

didnt they sing some song about JFK back in the ninties? I think I am confusing them with some band that had a black singer and guitar player, no idea who they are. But from King X's myspace page, they suck.

Sound like some typical Indie band...I never knew of a love affair with this band. I have the same thing with Fate's Warning. Think about the love affair with the Grateful Dead...how can you explain that?

There is nothing to explain, they suck.

Thanks dude. I knew I could count on you to cut through the bullshit. At least now I don't feel like I'm completely missing something. So many friggin' people love Kings X up here. I won't feel like a leper when they look at me funny when I tell them they are overrated.

Fates Warning, I liked but, never loved. The Grateful Dead have always been a mystery to me. I always kind of viewed their following to be not unlike a religion or cult. When I say cult I don't mean the cool way. I mean the kool-aid drinkin' way.

I didn't know anyone had a love affair with Fates Warning cept me! Even then, I'm not in love with their later stuff.

Grateful Dead is just plain commerical hippy fanaticism. Back in high school, I was looking for Thrash t-shirts at a local shop, and the lady was pushing Grateful Dead on me.

"We got lots of the Dead here."

"I'm looking for Slayer and Death Angel."

"Yeah, but these Grateful Dead shirts are lower priced."

"Great! You bought too much hippy shit and yer tryin to unload it on me?!"

Ty Tabor is an awesome guitar player, great melodies & solos, but they do have a lot of boring songs IMO, they have some progressive stuff that really sounds good live
