Can't say I agree with you there. I think 'Eyes Open' is as good an album as I've heard all year. And no, I haven't forgotten '10 000 Days' or 'The Great Cold Distance'. It's a top class record. I never thought Gary Lightbody would step up to the plate and reach such a consistent level of emotional songwriting, but he's done it.
Keane are the musical wallpaper of British "indie pop", the sort of thing thirtysomething accountants buy thinking they're doing something unusual or interesting. It's not actually unpleasant to listen to, but it is anodyne and saccharin as fuck.
