So why do I still like Megadeth more? They were inconsistent, even throughout a single album, but their best songs beats Metallica's best hands down. Peace Sells and Killing have one or two weak songs, Ride the Lightning and Kill 'em All do not, but the title track from both beat anything on those two Metallica albums.

I could just say Metallica had better albums, Megadeth had better songs.

I agree with your entire post, including the selection list. I would even agree with this particular quote here for the most part, except for the existence of a certain Rust in Peace...

Rust in Peace is better than any Metallica album, and at this point in history, always will be.

Oh yeah, definitely. Out of both group's catalogues, RIP is my only 10/10. Metallica has some 9 / borderline 10, but not quite. I think I made a thread saying RIP IS THE GREATEST METUHL ALBEM EVAR!!!111111 once, and I stick by it.

My Megadeth collection is severely lacking, although I recently picked up Rust in Peace so I'll have to get that out and listen to it.

I've heard pretty much all the Metallica albums and think they would win the first three regardless, but having not heard the Megadeth I can't really judge.

I tend to hover around death metal anyway and therefore own very little thrash.
