Are my ears deceiving me... or is it actually relatively good?

I mean it's nothing outstanding or anything, and they milked the shit out of that one lick, but it's actually a legitimate thrash song with some genuine intensity and groovy riffing. I think they've done what they should have done years ago, and listened to some modern thrash for some inspiration. Good on them.

Yeah! And people are going kind of crazy over it. Sure it has speed, good production (reminds me of Black Album), solo, James sounds pretty good. But its nothing special imo. The riffs doesnt really do it for me. And who is doing the double kicks? Cant be Lars.

Can't stand the production on the Metallica song, especially the drums. The song itself wasn't very good either. No doubt it'll get overrated because "omg, Metallica have made a thrashy song again! Let's just not even bother considering if it's even good or not."

The Darkthrone track was better but not sure how much I like it yet, I'll have to listen to the full album. I was excited about Nocturno having full vocal duties this time, however, these weren't what I was really expecting. They could grow on me.

Yeah the new Metallica song sounds exactly like something off Death Magnetic - which means the production is crap. The songs are decent, but the mixing is terrible.

Don't care about Metallica song but new Darkthrone sounds great and eases my mind about the release. It's a shame I won't get to hear any drunk Henry Rollins vocals this album though.
