METAL LYRICS SUCK.

satariel lyrics have content and are meaningful (and sarcastic on phobos&deimos)
susperia lyrics are good (not your average "i hate everybody and want everyone dead" kind)
diablo lyrics are good (talking about life in a not shallow way, and that's just honest to me)
kalmah lyrics are very good (definitely NOT your average melo death/black blah, but rather dealing with relevant issues)

... to name a few.

but yeah, 75% of metal lyrics suck to no end :p

(early) At the Gates and (later) Deathspell Omega also have well-thought lyrics that suit the music.

(later) DsO lyrics are incredibly pretentious and manage to say absolutely nothing despite the amount of words they use.

Martin Walkyier is the best lyricist in metal that I have heard by far. So pretty much any Skyclad song really.

I was going to but it's not like anyone actually reads posted lyrics.

Well no but if you'd have bolded a song title or 2 we'd have gotten the point and had a few chuckles too! :) (I've read about 60-75% of the posted lyrics in this thread, excluding of course those posted by Grimace.

Anal Cunt has the best lyrics, no? :Smokin:

I like Skyfire's lyrics. I don't usually pay attention to lyrics because I like listening to the instruments more, but I can sometimes manage to find some good'ns.

Skyfire - "Shivering Shade" (Bolded favorite parts)

Lonely thought about a void
that feels so close
A lonesome phantom shivers
from the coldness around
You are watching the chaos
with broken wings of crystallized glass
Blood is falling like branches that breed
For every time your heart pound

Weak and sad, All that occurs
will blind you
Like a lightning from the sky
Weak and sad, The Death
will come to us all
Impressions burning like fire

Beating rain that cuts through your
skin like knives

Only shivering shades of red and black
You glance out on the scene that gives
you a feeling of elation
Everything is so silence and calm now
'til the second you hit the ground

The clouds are slowly falling down
towards the red edge of the horizon

You are asking yourself over and
over again: "where did everything go?"
Torned and injured but no one can
hear your lamentation

The mist appears from the field that
you are standing on
Mourning tones performed in agony
Cold, you are trying to find warmth, in vain
Loneliness spreads its wings around you
Where you stand on your mound

@Perpetual Catatonia,
you havn't passed 20, right? :D
skyfire are really fine musically, but i'm kinda glad that they don't use clean vocals, so i don't have to actually hear all the lyrics

Yeah OK enough of this, it's kind of enjoyable and shit but yeah metal lyrics are usually not all that emotionally competent and focus on other topics like fantasy and gore and blah blah so topic end. Thanks Grimace!
