Metal sub-genres

yes nu-metal is metal since obviously its called nu-METAL...and Nu metal is a genre that began in the mid 1990s. It typically fuses influences from the grunge and alternative metal of the early 1990s with hip-hop, electronic music and various heavy metal styles in varying degrees and quantities

Nu-metal isn't metal. Please refer to my earlier quote about "the amazing amount of idiocy in this forum."

It's YOU ARE, commonly shortened to you're. Not YOUR. You fucking moron. Clearly you should be paying more attention in class, and not arguing with someone who is obviously your intellectual superior.

Definitely not thrash.

SF is metalcore. Old CoB is Extreme Power Metal. The Black Dahlia Murder is an odd offshoot between brutal death metal and metalcore...I just call them Deathcore.

I have not heard much Dewscented, so I do not know how to classify them.
Ah, well I think they are Post-death-core-grind-thrash-cunt-gore-death-black-extreme-neo-shred-classical-nu-dance-metal.
What's great about this thread is that no one can ever be wrong.

So there isn't any new thrash then?

I love GMD!:tickled:
Agreed. You have to think that metal does change in subtle ways, as does anything, over time. Just because the bands i listed don't sound exactly like the originals doesn;t make me wring. They simply represent the more modern style.

I won't try and argue SF, but i still think my list is pretty valid.

I'd never say you wring.

The reason people call it nu-metal is in mockery of the bands that play downtuned guitars with somebody rapping in the background. With no solos and nothing more complicated than 3 string chords it therefore should not be considered metal.

Hmm than Black Metal is not metal.
Congratulation, you have proved your tr00 metal knowledge again.

Uh black metal does have solos dumbass just not the newer stuff like Cradle of Filth and Dimmu Borgir.

Ahaha. You jackass. Cradle of Filth are not black metal, and Dimmu Borgir have not been BM since their second album.

BM, for the most part DOES NOT have solos.

Both Cradle of Filth and Dimmu Borgir WERE black metal and early black metal does have some solos as opposed to nu-metal which never has solos.
