Metal sub-genres

Yeah well nu-metal has NO solos, ever, and some faggot rapping in the background. Listen to nu-metal and compare it to black metal and tell me what's more metal.
According to you previous statement, the genre without solos can´t be metal. That says all.

Dude how many times have I said this black metal DOES have solos just not a ton. And anyway I can't think of one band that's considered not nu-metal that doesn't have solos at least occasionally.

Burzum, Satyricon, Emperor, Ulver, Borknagar, and even some Darkthrone songs have guitar some guitar solos. While no one would argue that those bands are/were black metal, I suppose the real argument is what is a guitar solo? Is it a million 64th notes crammed into 4 bars of music? Or is it a few sweet guitar licks linked together?

Yeah, I can see your point but still, the majority of black metal doesn't contain solos. However, I strongly agree with your point on bringing up the definition a guitar solo. I know when I have heard these 'alleged' guitar solos in black metal, I usually won't consider them to be as such because of their simplicity, and I'm sure many people do the same.

And I'm sure even some nu-metal bands have solos. Certainly, they are not the ones that would satisfy a fan of "real metal" but I'm sure there are some. Recently my brother was listening to Disturbed (I think it was) and I believe I heard some solo work, but nothing fancy, more of a generic solo...

But nu-metal is not metal. I think it was given the term "metal" because the majoity of the mainstream population has no idea was metal is.
Recently a co-worker asked me what kind of music I listen to? I replied by saying black metal, death metal etc...
And then she questioned: "Death metal, you mean like Marilyn Manson?"
lol

Marilyn Manson...death metal. hahahaha
He would have made an awesome stand up comic; I think he made the wrong career choice.

No, given the fact that he's more about shock and image...he'd most definitely be a prop comic, like that Carrot Top guy.

Yes, but those are simply opinions - no different from that of yours of mine. Wikipedia is an online encyclopedia that gets much of its info from just about anyone. I think the majority of it is fairly accurate though there have been cases where I've completely disagreed.
