Metallica finally sold out?

Anyone heard the cover version Nothing Else Matters by some chick called Lucy Silvas? Abso-fucking-lute travesty. How on earth would they EVER let this piece of shit make its way onto CD. Its fucking shocking. I would imagine she paid BIG to be able to cover it, and they are laughing all the way to bank on this one. In my mind, theyhave finally sold out, and I have NO fucking respect for them anymore. I'll never listen to that song in the same way again. So folks, go an download this load of PISH and have a right old laugh. Metallica take another downward step towards commerciality.

I met Metallica a few weeks ago. They're all pretty nice guys.

When I was out in Denver last summer ('03), just about two hours before I met Tad @ the Hard Rock, I saw Metallica dining at some bistro on 16th Street. I didn't want to bug them, 'cause they were eating, but I was close enough to observe them being rather cool and friendly with their fans. I remember thinking "did I just see metallica as I was walking down the mall?" and my pops said "I think that was metallica." :err: I then curled up with a beer at the ESPNZone, and called Tad, and he said "yeah, they were at Mile High last night, I didn't go, Anthrax are coming next week." Best answer ever.

For some reason, I thought it was just Rob, I didn't know you saw them all.

btw- You need to buy an Xbox, Ty. Do NOT buy a PoS2. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is fucking rad. Only available on Xbox. And, since GTA3 and Vice City are now available on Xbox (and GTA San Andreas will eventually be available on the superior Xbox system), there's absolutely NO reason to buy a PlayStation 2.

Rob was outside, and Kirk was on his way out as I recall. I don't recall exactly, not a huge enough fan to fret over it. Boy oh boy, I used to be. I saw them finally in 1993 (indoor) and 1994 (outdoor) after years and years of listening to them and idolizing them. Good shows, but nothing compared to what I saw by their peers up to and at that point. Then came Load, good songs and melodies, but from Metallica!? :erk: That, at the same time I was jamming to Stomp 442 and The Great Southern Trendkill and Roots? Metallica were no longer kings of metal. I almost went to see Metallica two weeks ago (free tix, and good ones) but I opted to go fishing on Lake Erie instead. I prefer my memories of buying MoP and RtL on vinyl. On seeing them make a video in 1988. And seeing them live the first time.

I saw them back in August when they rolled through Milwaukee. I'm still not sure if I liked the show or not. They played just about everything they had a video for. Pretty much all of that I could skip. I am so tired of One, but when they play it live I do like it. I knew, though, that I had entered the Twilight Zone during Battery. I realized that my Metallica has absolutely nothing to do with the Metallica much of the crowd was there to see that night. During the acoustic intro, I saw many, many people holding up lighters. They had no fucking clue. Watching the crowd, it was really easy to tell which camp the members of the audience was in. On any given song, half the crowd was standing still, arms folded, waiting to hear something they knew. That was me during the new stuff. The kids next to me went nuts for shit like Memory Remains and Nothing Else Matters, but were totally lost during Damage, Inc. The oddest thing, though, was during Master of Puppets. The floor was general admission and had been pretty calm all night, but they started to get a little pit going at this point. Security came in and broke it up. I have never seen a calmer floor for a metal show, and when they tried to get things going, security stepped in.

I think it has nothing to do with them selling out when somebody plays their cover.
For example, I think Tori Amos (or was it she) once did Slayer cover. Does it mean they sell out?

all i ever read or hear from people is that they hate metallica. so i sit here wondering WHO on earth are these millions of people who buy their CDs and see them live? are they limp b / korn fans, are they old people, college kids... WHO??? it puzzles me...

I still wouldn't mind seeing them live but how much are tickets to see them these days? The last metallica cd I bought and kept was their black cd. I like some of their newer stuff but not enough to go out and buy the cd's though.

Of all the Metallica songs to cover why would anyone want to cover Nothing Else Matters??? I imagine it's a shitty cover, considering it's one of the shittiest songs Metallica has ever recorded. I like Metallica, and when I met them 2 months ago they were all pretty cool, but that song sucks major ass. While I'm on the subject of shitty cover songs, has anyone heard the cover Korn did of Another Brick In The Wall?? Someone needs to shoot everyone of those band members in the fucking head, that has got to be one of the worse cover tunes I've ever heard.
