Morbid Visions = drumming is awsome contrary to douchebag belief.

i love the drumming on MV ... rookie style ... but good accents.

speaking of which, just cruised to the office blasting Kill'em All ... some songs stood the test of time better than others ... second half of that disc >>>>> first half

first half has THE FOUR HORSEMEEEEEEEEN \m/ which stands the test of time better than everything else in the world combined :kickass: METALLICAAAA HELLYEAH! SOLDIER BOY! MADE OF CLAY! MAYBE THE BEST SOOOHOOONG! ON MASTER! OF PUPPETS! ONE OF THE BEEE-HEEEEST! ALBUMS IN! THE WHOLE WORLD! JSUT SO FUCKIN GOOOOOOOD! KICKS MY ASS! KICKS YOUR FACE EXPLODING FEELING NEEEEEAAARGH! DIIIIDDILIOOOUOU

Master is still goosebump inducing ... not many discs can do that after 20 years.

The cool thing about Disposable Heroes is that it's probably the one song where ALL Metallica members are at their peak:

It's some of the best rhythm guitar by James.
Some of the best vocals by him too.
The drumming is awesome.
The bass lines are frenzied and the fact that Cliff plays with his fingers makes me want to do his dead carcass.
....AND, as is a known fact, it features Kirk Hammet's greatest solo ever.

So yeah, quite very possibly, Disposable Heroes could be the greatest Metallica song of all time.

But then there is "For Whom the Bell Tolls" and all logic goes out the window.

disposable heroes is a corker
I used to be in a band with pete scald and we did a few covers
that was one of them
a complete fucker to play properly too
we used to do for whom the bell tolls and ride the lightning too

we mostly just did 1 or 2 live but they were great for practice gigs
(drunken gigs in our rehersal room)

the thing about those old songs is they had a real identity
the structure of the songs was unique, metallica lost that after and justice

I listened to ReLoad for the first time just today! :kickass:

It was boring! :kickass:

And seriously, that Marianne Faithful part was a fucking joke right? I mean James and Lars were sitting around crying one day and thought "hey Lars, everyone calls you an old lady, but your memory remains intact, that sucks!" Then it just sorta happened like telephone purple monkey dishwasher style, and nobody knows why.

You always remember your first, right? Mine was Celtic Frost's Morbid Tales. Sigh

Although I did have Ride the Lightning on tape a few years prior, but didn't listen to it because it was a shitty copy.
