Magic

The most magical moment in rock, according to Danko Jones, is somewhere along these lines….
You’re the first in line when the tickets go on sale, you waited three months since you’ve first heard that one of your favourite bands are coming to your home town and you get there early enough to get a position right in front.
It is 5 minutes to 9, the band starts playing at 9, you know it, everybody else knows it.
The drummer plays a signature drum kit, and there it is. The guitarist plays a signature Mummy guitar, and there it is, and you think to yourself: ” No Fucking way!!”. And if someone from the venue would come on stage and tell you they’ve cancelled, you’d be the only one who wouldn’t be surprised.
Then the lights go out and “The ecstasy of gold” starts playing and right after that they rip right into one of your favourite songs!! – If you could bottle that moment I’d be a junkie.

There were a lot of bands invited like “Simple Plan” and “The Rasmus”, but the fun started when ‘Seether“ started playing. I know a lot of you disagree on them, but fuck it, I’m South African and I like them, and they rocked.

After them “Collective Soul” was on, brilliant show, great stage performance, they played a lot from their first albums which was quite cool.

Then of coarse Metallica , you won’t believe the set they played. Man what a concert, I could almost touch them, even caught one of James’ pics.
There were 45 000 people and for almost three hours all was forgiven. It was just them and biggest concentration of metalheads that this continent has ever seen, no politics, no religion no petty issues, just heavy metal blasting into the Centurion cricket stadium and 45 000 fists in the air!

I’ll leave you with the set list do decide for your selves:

1 – The ecstasy of Gold
2 – Creeping Death
3 – Harvester of Sorrow
4 – For Whom the Bell Tolls
5 – King Nothing
6 – Fuel
7 – Wherever I May Roam
8 – St. Anger
9 – Sad But True
10 – Battery
11 – Sanitarium
12 – Master of Puppets
13 – Enter Sandman
14 – Fade to Black
15 – Nothing Else Matters
16 – One
17 – Seek and Destroy

And yes, that was only one song from St. Anger :p

 :kickass: Me too! I was getting chills just reading that and remembering some shows that did that to me. Great way to build it up.

Excellent! I wouldn't expect any less from a bunch of metalheads. The setlist looks pretty cool -- pretty even throughout their career.

Thanks for the great read. I really enjoyed that. :kickass:

17 – Seek and Destroy - YES!!!!

Ive seen them only 3 times in my life.. and that was enough.. they put on a good show... even recorded it (well my friend recorded it.. i took pics) ... but i dont think i want to see them again unless the new album goes back to their roots pre 1988 ... maybe someday i'll make copies of the recording for you guys as well as the pics.. if i can find the tapes/pics in my messy room... but anyways you enjoyed the show that is all that matters.. me personally i wouldnt even watch those other bands especially Collective Soul... Metallica could of made a nice metalfest out of it... instead of choosing those bands.. im wondering if the metal community doesn't want to open up for them or associate with them anymore... ::::: pushes Wyv in front of me with a mask of my face on :::: lol

What a faith in their latest offering, only one song... :)

Nothing new actually. Since "Load" came out is well known that most of the setlist is composed of classic material, pretty sad IMO (agreeing with TSO).

I would have done it like that and added some more classic material And UM I'll get you one of these days

Glad you had a great time Zep. I seen them on the last tour and they still put on a killer show. The only thing lacking a bit was James' vocals. I think they played two from St. Anger that night and it wasn't to long after the release.

Few things have changed since Jason left Metallica. Robert like for me is good bass player ,but he acting like monkey on stage. I saw them live and with Jason. And most of it Jason can sing and Robert don't.
But he's style is acceptable for me.

I rekon Jason was much more suited than Trujio - expecially in the vocal department, thats one thing metallica are really lacking ATm

Sounds like an awesome time was had Zep! Good for you... and you don't need to defend anything... you like what you like an that's about it ;)
Nice setlist for Metallica... I must say I am a bit curious as to how their new album will shape up.
