MIXING CONTEST, paid job offer, death metal

I'm not in this to win, I just felt like doing it. 1 hours work. I'm only 14, so don't expect a lot, lol. Very good drummer. Guitars are very tight as well. (this includes the bass)

Kick is EzDrummer Drum Kit From Hell.

Guitar L - TSE X30 --> Mesa Traditional 412 x2 SM57 In Phase (Impulse)
Guitar R - LE456 --> Mesa Traditional 412 x2 SM57 In Phase (Impulse)

This is just rough, not final. Still have to process everything. The only thing that's "done" is the guitars.

5150 through mesa for guitars. Bass was reamped through a sansamp. The snare is a sample i recorded with a 7x14 SJC snare. Kick is a mix of two samples. Toms are slate fat toms.
I'm pretty happy with the overall mix(right now at least).

jesus brianhood, you get the nastiest guitar tones out of your 5150. This is my fav mix so far

This sounds good. Sounds like there is some thought behind that mix ;) However the snare ruins it and makes it sound generic and cheap. You recognise the snare sound instantly.

Thanks for your words man. I know what you mean about the snare, but cheap? I think it´s not bad for this kind of stuff. I did a seperate mastering and added a second vocal track.

I think your mix is definitely the best out of all of them. You seem to really let the band shine instead of trying to overproduce it.

I liked the previous version a bit better. In this version I think you over emphasized the high mids too much in the guitar tone. Stick with what you had eq wise from the first mix.

Dude, you have the best mix. Almost all the mixes I have heard here are amateurish. They focus on getting the best guitartone, the best drumsound but no one is listening on how the tones work together. You have a really pro mix but your choice of snare is really uninspired. Sure it works frequency wise but it doesn't sound very natural, I can't really picture a kit in front of me.

Sorry if I'm harsh but I wouldn't be telling you this unless I thought this mix was great :)

Proves to show how drastically opinions can differ when it comes to mixes
The mix you are refering to sounds flat as a pancake to me (spectral balance and dynamics)...reminds me of black metal mixes a bit. I prefer to keep such opinions to myself but your second statement is just unacceptable for me.

Anyway, final version from me
