Most insipring, evil, beautiful Opeth riffs...opinions?

Hmm...too many to name...well, here are just some.

Black Rose Immortal: First acoustic, by the sound of water. Haunting, eerie and just plain atmospheric beauty.

Black Rose Immortal: Most beautiful; definitely the acoustic part where he sings "sunbirds leave their dark recesses." Probably Opeth's most SUPERB acoustic moment, IMO.

To Bid You Farewell: This whole song is just beautiful and emotional...everything about it is simply brilliant!

Most evil??? Hmmm....yeah, the beginning of Leper Affinity is truly something awesome! But, I'm going to have to go with a song off Orchid for this one. In Mist She Was Standing, the part at "Smiling at my presence..." the whole paragraph...those are some evil screams I tell ya!

Agreed. :D

I don't know about inspiring riffs, maybe leper affinity and drapery falls inspire me to do some song writing myself. As for evil, definately demon of the falls main part (DEMON!!!....DEMON OF THE FALL!), beautiful, the solo and part that follows with "searching my way to perplexion..aaaa.aaa.aah"

those are my opinions

When the distorted riff kicks in on the into to BWP (title track) for a few fleeting seconds before the roar that is perfection.
I don't why I like this so much as I like other Opeth songs better but hey it's just my opinion.

Yeah, no shit! I'm thinking of their most recent stuff because that's what's been playing in my car constantly.

The "Let me taste, Let me feel, I need to know what you keep inside..." vox in By The Pain..." are seriously chilling.

I would consider the ending riff of Bleak inspiring. I few it as coming out of the bleakness in the middle of the song

The main riff that kicks in after 1.15 is GODLY!! I thinks its one of the best, most crunching stuff Opeth has ever done. The hole song rocks immensly and the outro of the song must be one of Opeths greatest moments. Im getting goosebumps now listening to it (And you are just like them all Stained by the names of fathers I'm greeting my downward fall Leaving the throes to others). OMG Opeth is simply the greatest band :hotjump:

TFP: A liquid gown that covers all
Your loathe turns endless
Opened mirage soothes your sense
Locked on the pinnacle
The best secret within
Like a derelict child
Heart burning for a stranger
Ascending to the meek
Flock round the liars in awe
Caked in the soil beneath
Fear me when we meet
Turn away in admiration
My firm grip round the nucleus of joy
Enough of this
You will leave me now
You will see it now
Perish at my hands

mmmmm:OMG:

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

Sad and sorrowful? Right away some of the riffs in BRM and TBYF from Morningrise. Those songs make you  sometimes. I really don't think there's an instrument that can sound more emotional than a guitar. If I had to guess, I'd say a cello or violin might be a distant second for me.

Agreed I get this warm fuzzy feeling while listening to TBYF. I can just relax, close my eyes, and go "Ahhhhhhhhhhhh" thus truely releasing any tention built up in my body. The singing with the simple / quiet chord progression really does it for me .. the timing is about 3:10 and the whole passage that follows INCLUDING the solo. Mmmmmmmmmm.

Nevermind. The whole rest of the song is just as awesome and soothing. If I were ever convicted and sentenced to death, this is the song I would want to listen to as I died.

My friends who don't know about Opeth were in my car and I put in BWP (the CD). I told them it's some really cool relaxing shit. The first 25 seconds of the Leper Affinity lulled them into a soothing state and then BAM the song just kicked in. ALL 3 of them jumped and I laughed my ass off at them. That part is pretty evil.

I could choose the riff that starts at the 2:40 of Advent, but hell, the more I listen the more I can't choose a part!!!
(the track at the 10:25 is awesome too)

Credence is a ride on the clouds.

Dirge for November, infinite beautiful, sadnesssssss.

The apostle of Triumph, face of Melinda...

The night and the silent water, all, but specially after the first 55 seconds, then at the 2:55 of the song (the melodic part)

The 30 seconds that go from the 1:15 of Black Rose inmortal are insane. The part of the 9:44 OOOOOOoooooOOOOooooHHHhhhhhhhhhhhHHhh it makes me cry! The 13:45 ...
ALL the fuckin' song dammit!

"The drapery falls" :loco: First 15 seconds AAAAAARGHHHHHHH...but then at the 5:35, when the chaotic riffs start and... BOOOOMMMM...... the song explodes I go nuts! I believe is my favourite.

A Fair judgement, To rid the disease, ending credits, Deliverance...etc,etc,etccc
