Most Overrated Metal Guitarists?

Kirk maybe less technically gifted than most guitarists on the planet, but I still think he wrote good, memorable solos.
But the amount of people he would have inspired to pick up the guitar...

Yngwie: brilliant technically, but really boring.

Dragonforce, for the reasons Lasse says.

Yeah both the DragonForce guys are absolutely putridly wretched guitarists, although Herman is a little bit better. This doesn't relate to their guitar "skills", but I saw them both hanging out at NAMM, with a couple groupie looking chicks hanging off them, and Sam was being all loud and giggly like a drunk 16 year old kid (holding a cup of MGD Light or something)...it was amusing because it seemed like they were trying to get attention, but no one really cared they were there! NAMM of course is primarily a gathering of musicians, and it seemed pretty obvious how actual musicians felt about them. I think 99% of the people out there who would say that those two guys are good at the guitar, are people who don't play instruments and are really in no position whatsoever to make judgments on musicians...the same crowd of people who have bought into their band and have made their band successful.

I want to stick up for Adam D. a bit...I agree that no one ever really heralds him as being super outstanding, so it's hard to say that he's overrated. Beyond that, I actually think Adam is a super tight player with good tone in his hands...you can really tell that he "feels" the guitar, which to me makes him very respectable and a cut above many other "established" non-virtuoso type guitarists.

I think Robert Trujillo is a pretty overrated bass player. All the clips I've seen of him rocking out or "soloing" with Metallica have been very, very weak. If I've overlooked some redeeming qualities in his playing though, I won't mind being corrected!

Looks like he is not any good with his rhytm either.

I'll be the first one to bash Kirk's playing these days (which went consequently downhill from the 90s on)...

... but that clip is kinda mean. Yeah sure, that's a relatively simple rhythm pattern, but have you never come across a similar situation when writing with another guitarist?

Especially with these broken-up triplet thingies, it always feels easy and naturally to the one who wrote it, but if it's not instantly clicking, it can be quite a pain to overcome you own picking-habits (so to say)... though technically, you could play this being half-dead-drunk-asleep-on-crack.

Did you do that on purpose, Aaron?

Well, I kinda agree. But what he did in Suicidal/Infectious Grooves was pretty damn cool.

Haha, whoops! It's almost 4:00 in the morning  Honestly, I always get that guy's name wrong for some reason. It shows how little I pay attention to him and Metallica in general.

Dragonforce dudes, Kirk Hammet, and Zakk Wylde are a given...That Gus G guy from Firewind doesnt really impress me either.

Alexi Laiho! While his sidekicks are being overlooked, this 'tard is being blown out of proportion.*

* I'll openly admit that my statement's being diluted by personal antipathies.

Oh god yes.
Bad tone, sloppy as shit and has a history of being trashed at shows, yet his face is seen on the cover of guitar magazines.
He's a disgrace to the metal guitar world IMO and not a good role model at all.
