I know I can think of more..
I wish I personally could have shot down his helicopter myself.
Irrespective of your own abilities and influences, the issue is still a subjective one. People are very much allowed to vocalize their distaste for Alexi.
I used to be a huge fan back in high school, but I look back now and cringe. There are so many better role models out there for all aspects of music, not just guitar playing.
Ozzy is a fag, that I will agree. But yeah shreddydude you're definitely going overbord with your "every famous guitarrist sucks" tag. Lamb of god? they don't solo almost never, but they are unbelievably tight rhythmic players and pretty good writing them riffs, I can't see how anyone can say the suck or are overrated. It's not people praise they are shredgods, people praise what they are and get the praise they deserve
I don't base opinions on how well someone shreds, man. Not at all.
Lamb of God's songs just sound the same
Every
Single
One.
Also, the general publics mindset is to praise anything that sounds simple and catchy to the ear
No matter how shitty the song is or how poorly written it is.
Look at Nickelback.
EDIT: Or Rap, or Pop, or R&B
Fuck people. If there was a button I could press to kill every weakminded fucking retard who listens to Lamb of God in the world, I'd press that motherfucker 3,001 times just to be sure.
how's this for Context metaltastic..... without Rhoads almost very few of the guitarists you do actually enjoy today in metal simply would not have pursued it. i know i wouldn't have ever become a known guitarist but for his influence on me as a young lad.
though i freely admit i'm one of the most over-rated guitarists i know, lol.
Respect for the past masters, and what they did for music that extends to this day, is the first step to individual accomplishment and innovation. Otherwise you're likely just treading old ground and don't even know it.
I do respect the past masters, I just don't happen to consider him one of them, at least not to the degree of Lynch, Tipton, and EVH!
THERE you fucking go
