Most underrated drummer in all of metal...

Pete Hammoura (ex-Nile)! His drumming on Amongst The Catacombs Of Nephren-Ka and Black Seeds Of Vengeance is utter amazing! Brann Dailor from Mastodon is seldom mentioned, but also he is amazing. His drumming on Mastodon's Remission and Today Is The Day's In The Eyes Of God is stunning. And Janne Saarenpää of The Crown of course. Probably the coolest drummer in the world.

Max Kolesne of Krisiun is godlike. My friend thought he was a drum machine for a while until I told him different. The bass pedaling on the intro to Ageless Venemous is TOO perfect.

Since most of you talk about Novembre I must go and get me some of their stuff. About drummers. Janne Saarenpaa is AWESOME. He's the reason I love The Crown. Also Flo from Cryptopsy and R Crhisty.

you guys wanna know the most underrated drummer: martin lopez. i think he does some amazing stuff...especially on deliverance...

hehe, I don't think he's underrated; I see praise written about him on here quite a bit ;)
But yeah, he is freaking awesome on Deliverance, it's what got my attention immediately...... :notworthy

Ya know, I'll probably catch a bunch of shit from the elitist "True Metal fans" here for this.... but I really think the drummer from Mudvayne is pretty underrated. Nobody really sounds like him, and he has a very unique style. Rhythmically, there's not many people who can replicate that kind of syncopation. I mean, there's plenty of Ray Herrera types that can rip out machine gun double bass at the drop of a hat, but not many that can turn on a dime as fast as the Mudvayne dood.

I actually think they're very unerrated and unrespected by the metal community as a whole, just for the fact that they're from the US where damn near all metal bands are retarded.

Their new album is great though.

Barker is a madman on the set. Almost takes away from the fact that he uses triggers. But who doesn't these days.

What I dig about Nick, is the fact that ALL his fills seem to enhance the overall dynamics of Dimmu's songs. They NEVER seem out of place, and are always on point. Seems his cymbal crashes ALWAYS come at just the right times. He has a great way of complimenting the rest of the band in addition to being very skillful. It never seems as he's just there to keep time like many other modern metal drummers these days....

The drummer from mastodon is amazing, yeah. I think Chris Pennie from dillinger is the best drummer I've heard, but then he's pretty well known as one of the greatest drummers around. I think the drummer from the Red Chord should get a lot more recognition, awesome drummer.

Someone must have heard David Sandstrom's Refused stuff...:bah:

He was a drumming god, I wish he got lots of recognition...:o Too late cos Refused is gone now...such a solid style, classy fills and AMAZING drum rolls...

Black Seeds of Vengance was not Pete Hammoura, it was Hate Eternal's Derik Roddy. Derik filled in for Pete on that entire album due to Pete suffering an injury to his arm that does not permitt him to drum anymore.

Whenever or not he is the best or not, Richard Christy is seriously underrated to me ( he deserves to be at least on the top 3 list and its usually forgotten )( He is the currend iced earth drummer and if you think that is good i can just tell you that he is mediocre and uncreative at BEST when compared to Burning Inside drumming )

I agree 100%!! Richard Christy is a drum-GOD!!! The Iced Earth material is NOTHING compared to Death's Sound of Perserverance! That album is a must have for anyone who follows drummers...it's amazing.
