What do triggers have to do with his ability? *I* use triggers for shows, all they do is make it so when you hit the triggered drum it makes the same sound everytime... which keeps your double-bassin' soundin' nice. Keeps the sound consistent instead of the occaisonal "too soft" or "too hard" hits coming through.

Latin, NOT Mexican.
It takes no skill, no presition or fine touch to do that, and it sounds artificial and fake. Real drumming involves so much more things because you can get like a 1000 different sounds of each drum and cymbal.
Real drummers dont use triggers, they are skilled enough to get any sound they want, at any time. Go watch Jazz drummers if you dont believe me.

I think that Mikkey Dee from Motorhead is underrated. The guy adds such an awesome urgency to the music. His stuff with King Diamond will always be my favorite, though. I would really like to see him hook up with some of the more modern metal players and really go to town. He is kind of limited on what he can showcase with Motorhead's stuff.

I wholeheartedly agree with Giuseppi Orlando. (novembre). The man is not just blazing fast (although he can hold his own with any of the blast/doublekick gods) but he has such TASTE.

I think you guys have alot of misconceptions about trigger usage. All a trigger does is create a uniformity of tone in the bassdrum...notice i said tone and not sound. If one is using good triggers, they can be quite sensitive to touch. As many of you probably know, getting two disparate bass drums in tune can be quite frustrating, especially in my case where i could not afford the exact same model for my second bass drum. Thus, I have two quite similar sounding bass drums, but nonetheless tonally different enough to make even tight playing sound slightly off...you've all heard this sound on poorly produced metal albums. All triggers allow me to do is create a uniform tone in both of my bass drums as to more honestly project the parts I am playing...seems quite innocent to me...By the way I would only ever trigger the bassdrums as nothing beats the sound of an acoustic drum, and had I the option I would not even trigger the bass drums, not because it is "cheating" but because i will always take an acoustic sound over an electronic one. whew i write too much

I never really thought about Novembre's drumming consciously. I always enjoyed it a lot but never.. yeah, it is really good. It's understated and memorable and kind of flows nicely, like Anders Nordin's drumming was. Really, Novembre is underrated in general.

Nick Menza was killer on RIP... but unfortunately his drumming was really unspectacular for the rest of his Megadeth stint... probably due to the dumbing down of Megadeth's music starting with the pop-metal record "Countdown"
Gavin Harrison's drumming on "In Absentia" is nothing short of amazing... what a great sound he has... Chris Maitland was great too
