Movies

I could never tire of Dogs and Pulp. Those movies are just classics. The mindless banter you speak of is what makes his movies so great, at least to me (and countless others, I'm sure).

If you're bored of those and his style in general, you won't like Kill Bill.

Agreed. Tarrantino will never venture beyond what he's already done, from the perspective of 'style'.

People also need to remember that Kill Bill volume 1 is incomplete. Unlike the LotR trilogy, it was never supposed to be split into segments. It ends completey open ended in the middle of the second act, and so there is little "closure" to the film.

My suggestion is that if you're getting tired of Tarrantino, but still keen to see Kill Bill, I would wait and see them together back-to-back. Volume 1 is very much action driven (the dialogue is minimal to say the least), and Volume 2 is supposed to be much more story driven, obviously closing the third and final act.

Personally, I wouldn't compare Kill Bill to other Tarrantino films until Vol 1 and 2 are packaged together as one complete entity.

Agreed ... actually I like Jackie Brown better than Pulp as far as story and drama.

Pulp Fiction does feel like a lot of shit talking after repeated views but it is undeniably a classic.

The only thing I don't like about Pulp Fiction is that annoying French bitch. Other than that it's great.

Jake Glynnehal (sp?) would have been a cool Spiderman. As much as I loved Spiderman, I thought Tobey MaGuire was miscast.

There better be more wet t-shirt scenes with Kirsten Dunst in part 2, with her mammaries getting all octo-handled by that 8 armed freak. :loco:

Triplets of Belleville

Ruled. Anime fans definitely need to check this out. Simple plot, but the distinctive characters and great music are the important aspects anyhow. I need to start collecting DVDs of this kind of stuff.

Russell, read your bit on Gozu a few weeks ago, I'm going to look into it, along with all those other Japanese films discussed 'round here. :)

triplets of bellevile was amazing ... everyone must see this.

the dog alone is worth your time.

great old school animation mixed with minimal computer and 3D effects

As far as Japanese cinema ... been renting alot from Netflix lately.

Saw AUDITION and SUICIDE CLUB so far ... AUDITION was evil .. well done.

SUICIDE CLUB started off good but then it went nowhere, didn't know what it wanted to be ... a horror film, a comedy or a musical. This was dissapointing

Kill Bill vol. 1

Kick ass movie. I love the merciless Bride. Chopping off arms, putting nails through heads, chopping off scalps, legs, etc. Tons of bloddy fun. The black and white scene was kinda lame though. It took away from some of the feel of the movie, and I felt cheated. Still a great movie though.

hehe yeah that movie is really cool, it wouldn't surprise me if it turned out that the animators settled for a few kilos of weed instead of a salary each month. that scene when the trio perforns with the fridge and that newspaper is ingenious :D but it's not a movie i'd spend money on buying though, it gets a bit dull at times

btw, anyone who's seen shrek 2? i've heard good things about it, even the critics sent to cannes have liked it (at least the swedish ones i've heard talking about the festival) and some even said that it was the best movie shown there. i doubt i'll go see it in a theathre though, i don't like beeing surrouned by guffawing people, i just can't stand when they laugh at the "wrong" places
