Movies

I've watched Lebowski some 20 times since seeing it in the theater in '98. I've seen Miller's Crossing a few times. Pretty good movie but does not include the typical dark humor you expect from the Bros.

Speaking of, anyone like The Ladykillers? I thought it was really underrated. Some brilliantly funny parts in that film...and one of Tom Hanks's best roles.

Finished watching Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas for the first time in years. Totally did not appreciate this movie until now.

"Holy jesus, what are these god damn animals!?"

- Gonzo: One toke over the liiiiiine!
Raoul: One toke? you poor fool, just wait until you see those god damn bats! -

"Raoul: "Was I talking?.....can they hear me?"

The first 10-20 minutes of this movie is hysterical.

The first time I saw that movie I was really tired and was waiting for the movie to finish to go to bed and the constant drug addled rambling was really annoying. I need to watch it again sometime I suppose.

oh hell yeah. Some great lines in this one.
"Took too much, man. Took too much. Too much"
"The really big fuckers"
and help me with this one: "Too wierd to live, too [.....] to die" cant remember that one word, but its when Gonzo is getting on the plane.

Napoleon Dynamite...
As I understand, there was a major hype around this one a while ago. It's the typical non-typical MTV production a-la Daria, Beavis and Butthead, that has the tendency to take the most cliche teen-movie situations (first date, prom, highschool president elections) or just general teenage topics and treat them in a twisted point of view. This one especially connects with Todd Solondz's Welcome to the Dollhouse movie. Both share strong 80's aesthetics and choose to follow the classic-outcast's interactions with society, while making the whole high school deal seem surrealistic, grotesque even. Here, though, this point of view isn't taken into extreme, but rather left as a self aware comedy of nonsense, which makes for a very enjoyable (and pointless, of course) viewing.
The characters are very colorful and quite hilarious, and watching them placed together, and their different reactions, is basically what makes this movie what it is.

Thomas Harris went straight down the toilet several years ago. Fuck Thomas Harris. He's ruined the legacy of Silence of the Lambs. What a dumbass.

Oh shit! the reason I checked out this thread: anyone interested in Reno 911 the movie? It looks fucking hilarious
