but that girl, Orlando, sort of ruined it for me.

Yea hes a wank. I think the funniest orlando moment in any movie was in Troy when there's people trying to bust down a door, and he wips out a bow EXACTLY THE SAME WAY as he does in LOtR. The director had to have done that on purpose...im sure some of you noticed it.

I enjoyed Pirates of the Caribbean. I do not think it deserved all the heaps of praise it received, but it was a fun film. Yes, Orlando s a pussy. He was a pussy in Pirates, as in Troy, and I'm sure he'll be a pussy in Kingdom of Heaven. And people were talking about Orlando being the next James Bond.

Gangs of New York kicked so much fucking ass. COulda done without Leo, but he did pretty good. Daniel Day Lewis stole the show as Bill the Butcher. What a fucking cool character.

Did anyone see KEN PARK?
Was written by Harmoney Korine (Gummo) and directed by Larry Clark ... the twisted guy behind KIDS and BULLY

KEN PARK is supposed to be some brutal look at suburbia coupled with some incest, etc.

I just saw Der Untergang, it was very good but I do think the talk I heard about it picturing Hitler "too humane for such a monster" or something like that was exagerrated, most of the time he seemed quite insane.

Of course, it's a sensitive question, but it goes without saying that Hitler was not thoroughly "evil" as some would have it; if somone claims that then he's pretty damn stupid. He was a human like everyone else who had opinoins shared with a lot of people those days, with the difference that he turned some of them into a reality.

It's so pathetic when people are trying to turn him into some malice incarnate, that's just a blunt simplification; just take the title of that documentary/movie Hitler - The Rise of Evil

Oh, and I'll see that movie soon

Crouching Tiger was so much better than Hero you fools! Hero rocked and all, but come on!

I watched a documentary on Maya Lin last night, the chick that designed the Vietnam Memorial in DC and the Civil Rights Memorial in Alerbammer. Pretty cool.

HOTEL RAWANDA ... not bad, was expecting a little more after Nad's tearful confession, but the flick felt a little flat.

Definetelly NOT recommended for people participating in the Argholsent threads :loco:
3 reasons why I cried at one scene (the truck scene when he sends his family off):

1) I did a bit of research on that situation in the late-90's, so it's one of my "causes" (yet another that added more fuel to my hatred of the US gov't).

2) I'm a big softy for family strife.

3) I'm a my pals lover. :loco:

I'm not defending the US in this case, but here's a question for all non-US citizens:

Do citizens of your country constantly blame your gov't for allowing the Rwanandandan massacre to happen? DO you even know what I'm talking about? :err:

Too many wa's in that statement, literally and figuratively. :p

I see your point, but I think you missed mine (I didn't explain it): the US gov't tries to pretend they are the Savior of the World, that wars such as in Iraq, Vietnam, etc. are done because we are the good guys of the globe. Listen to soldiers overseas, you constantly hear them say "I don't know why these people are attacking us, we're here to help." No, you're there to gain a political advantage for the US gov't, and that's it. If we were the good guys, just lending out a helping hand, we would've been in Rwanda.

Note: I'm not in favor of policing the globe, but I am in favor of spreading wealth and resources around, both here and abroad. I also realize that's a pipe dream, especially in Dick Cheney's America, but so are a lot of things. Like me having a 3-way with Jennifer Tilly and Nicole Kidman.

saw Closer last night... what the fuck was I thinking? i mean, there wasn't much WRONG with it, technically, but ... WHY? boring melodramatic, forced love story.

Agreed, it's weird that some people don't see beyond that Rise of Evil stuff though...

House of Flying Daggers

Pretty cool but then again not. Some of the fight scenes were really cool (especially the end one) but the story didn't really do much for me. Then again I was exhausted and dozed off a few times so maybe I just wehhtli4 2oiusd98472 29782
