My friend was telling me about it a few weeks ago, and he said "the Simpsons parodied it for that one episode on The Island" and I said "OMGWTFLOLZ THAT'S MY FAVORITE EPISODE EVAAARRRRRRRR" so I had to see what they were making fun of.
 
Wow, I should have been reading this thread a long time ago. The Prisoner is the greatest thing ever. Spend whatever you can to get the whole series, it will pay for itself 10 times over in terms of viewing time, believe me.

About CTHD, if you're gonna make a martial arts movie then it has to measure up in the fighting, therefore, I agree... CTHD >> Hero >>>>>> HOFD. Anything else you want to know about Hong Kong Cinema, I'm your man.

Anybody excited about Ep. III? Granted, I'm not the biggest Star Wars fan, and I loathe Lucas and his revisionism but how can you not be part of an event like this?
 
I just hope it doesn't suck balls. II was pretty okay, I only watched it once but will watch it again. Ep. I is one of the worst movies in history. I've only met one person that liked that, and she HATED Episodes IV thru VI so was obviously a fucking moron.
 
I had hope, until I heard Lucas say in an interview that episode III will be like "Titanic.. only in space"

I don't really know how describe it but everyone who enjoy good (:p) movies need to see this one. Stunning.

I watched this movie "Sideways" with my family tonight. I suppose it was one of those romantic comedy types where everything goes wrong and ends up nice in the end. I should have known it was going to be shit.

The main plot was this dude was going on his "last week of freedom" before getting married with his friend. His friend is more of an easygoing guy but dwells on the past that he had an unsuccessful marriage previously. The other dude who is about to get married only wants to party and get laid by chicks before he gets married. Needless to say it was fucking painful to watch this dude run around controlled by his genitalia while inadvertently screwing up the other dude's life. ehhh, I'm wasting too much time on it. Unless you like idiotic films in the genre of "Meet the Parents", avoid at all costs.

On the bright side however, I got to steal some nachos from the cupboard.

Møøse, yeah that movie was pretty massively hyped in the US, I liked it but didn't see it as a masterpiece by any means. Apparently up in wine country (central/northern Cali) there are now Sideways Wine Tours even. :rolleyes:

But I really really really like Paul Giamatti, so yeah. He is the free nachos of the acting world.
 
looking back at SIDEWAYS .. and not getting why it was so hyped .. I now realized how much it stayed with me over the last month since watching it.

there was a lot of raw reality in it ...
 
I think I'll buy Sideways tonight from PPV... my parents said it was pretty good and basically I can't resist with everyone talking about it around here.
 
i think if I was MM's age ... I would not appreciate Sideways either. You have to be a little more older for it.

saw THE LIFE AQUATIC ... what drivel ... between the few and far between little Murray jokes ... it was a pure bore. Played like a play and really had no redeeming value. Murray looked like he wanted off the set.
 
Sideways was OK. nothing really special. yeah, so the dude's life sucks. wow, give me something else. a lot of people's lives suck. without Thomas Haden Church's character, that movie would have flat out sucked.

I didn't think life aquatic was that bad.. sure it is far from the excellence of The Royal Tenenbaums, but it was chock full of comedy nonetheless
 
The Life Aquatic RULED, I just finished watching it. Willem Dafoe, Bill Murray, Angelica Huston, Kate Blanchett, Jeff Goldblum, around 50 David Bowie songs, and fucking PIRATES?! You can't beat that! :kickass:
