Royal Tenenandnanddubaums

Pretty funny, sorta disjointed though. I liked it but Life Aquatic was infinitely better. Guess I have to see Rushmore now.

You, my fine sir, have no taste :p I far preferred RT to A Life Aquatic ;)

I was at a film festival on Saturday, which had:

Tales From Beyond The Grave - great, cheesy Amiscus horror. Really enjoyed it

Korean Vientnam chiller R Point - a bit too slow-moving, but creepy at times.

Shallow Ground which had a poor plot; far too many holes/loose ends for my liking. It was tense, but that was about all I felt it had going for it.

Sin City, which I thought was great. I can definitely see why it had misogyny levelled at it, but stylish and very effective..

The League Of Gentlen's Apocalypse was also fantastic. I'm glad it wasn't just more of the same characters doing what they do in Royston Vasey, very well done.

And finally, the world premier (!) of The Devil's Rejects, which just rocked. Absolutely loved it, probably my favourite of the evening.. I was a big fan of House.. but this one was totally different being more of an on-the -run western style, Deliverance inspire road movie.

This has been getting some hype out here. Fangoria have been raving this one up quite a bit.

Man, I couldn't stand 1000 Corpses...really not sure about this one.

Oh well, at least Haute Tension is getting a nationwide release here. That's next on my list. Well, that and Land of the Dead obviously.

I was being very kind to Shallow Ground ;)

Sweet, enjoy Haute Tension (UK title was Switchblade Romance). I was lucky enough to go to the UK premier back in August. The end was a bit of a let-down, but it was all really tense. Great movie. Can't wait for Land Of The Dead. I hope it's going to be at Frightfest this year!

Yeah, it's called High Tension here, and I think they've dubbed it as well. Shame, but I have no choice. Perhaps the DVD version will have the original language.

I <3 Fuckabees

hahahahahahahahaha UNRULY. I didn't really like it until past halfway through, but the last 20 minutes kicked all kinds of ass. *BONK*

Oh, I didn't realize this was the dude that did Three Kings, I loved that damn movie, saw it in the dollar theatres. :kickass:

Meet the Fockers

Not near as good as the first one, but sequels rarely are. It had some funny parts, but got a little too ridiculous (the illigitimate son; the hidden covert spy space in the motorhome) at times, whereas the first one was at least believable.

Meet the Parents: 8/10
Meet the Fockers: 5/10

Ocean's Twelve
Pretty lame actually. I thought the first one was just fun. Not great, but simply a fun, mindless film. This one was just damn stupid, with a few instances of humor.
4/10

For Love of the Game
My favorite sports movie/love story. Directed by Sam Raimi, he did a fantastic job n the way the movie unfolds; while COstner's character is pitching, the innings represent steps in the love story part. Yes, t is a love story, but a guy love story. If you want your wives/girlfriends to think you're sensitive and shit, rent this one.

I love that movie.

I bought Waking Life the other day and it pretty much ruled.

Haven't seen it, but it sounds a bit like Field of Dreams in that "if you want your chick to think you're sensitive" way.

Excorcist 2 ... haven't seen this in ages and it was damn stupid.

But Linda Blair is a total fox in this one. Her bod is smoking ... mama mia :kickass:

Yay, it does indeed. I love how they've actually managed to capture the feeling of dreaming throughout the movie, and also the people talking are generally really interesting

Actually, just when I thought it was the worst in the series, along came the prequel. :Puke:

Hey - have you seen Exorcist III with George C Scott? Fucking brilliant it is.

i don't remember seeing III ... it's on my Netflix list ... will get it next.
II was just ridiculous ... with those horrible effect shots of the locusts and the appearance of James Earl Jones ... fuckign Verizon ruined it all

PARIS, TEXAS

I cannot believe that I never saw this movie. Superb road movie as far a cinematography is concerned. Simply stunning western scenery, Texas/CA ... just amazing. Great soundtrack also.

Considering it's from 1984, I can now think of numerous movies that came after it that completely ripped this off.

The story was pretty good as well, but not as good as the visuals.

All of you into the desert ... get this on DVD pronto !!!
