Movies

^never seen it. should I?

Sure. It has great scenery and landscapes. The story is a good one, too, but is a bit slow in parts. Also, make time for it, I think it's 3 or 4 hours long.

THE MACHINIST ... as much as I know already that Bale is a great fucking actor ... but based on this performance alone I am pretty sure that the new BATMAN will kick ass ( and I am not even a fan of the series)

THE MACHINIST ruled also ...

anyone watch Dances With Wolves last night. I'm always amazed at the scenery in that movie. breathtaking....

Didn't see it last night, but I've seen it probably 3 times- one of the best movies EVER.

I watched "Das Experiment" last night. Based on the book, and interesting concept of an experiment where a group of men are asked to spend 2 weeks inside a penitentiary. Half the men are awarded the role of "warden" and the other half are the "prisoners". The warden's are not allowed to use any violence, so they only way to keep the prisoners in check is to use the art of humiliation. Things spiral out of control and of course all hell breaks loose.

Good film, but the ending is just irritating as hell. Just stupidity at play, and had me shouting at the screen: "Oh fuck off....!" etc.

Finally saw Kill Bill 1 & 2. Thought the explanation at the end was pretty weak, and what was with the annoying beeps to bleep out her name? Like we care when it's finally revealed. Anyway, overall not bad, bonus points for combining kung-fu flicks with westerns with 70s exploitation flicks with pulp, but sometimes it felt like he was trying too hard to combine genres.

Kinsey - interesting, but over the top. I'm sure a lot of what he did was helpful, but man his methods were totally over-the-top and self-indulgent. He was pretty messed up.

The wife wanted me to watch Ladder 49, so we watched it on iControl or whatever. It was pretty good, and I liked the way they told the story through flashbacks. It was more realistic than Backdraft, I thought. I like Joaquin Phoenix (other than that horrid role in Gladiator) and hope he gets good roles in the future.

Ladder 49 was indeed pretty good ... I still cannot believe that the lead actress is Jacinda from MTV's Real World London ... holy crap did that chick change for the better.

I don't watch MTV, so I had no idea who she was. She did a good job, I thought.

And even though Travolta had a small role here, he was neat to watch as the no-nonsense Fire Captain.

FANNY & ALEXANDER ... brilliant. haven't seen any later day Bergman movies, but will need to remedy that.

someone on the net wrote that this movie is "like watching a masterpiece of literature" and I could not agree more. over 3 hours but it flows so beautifully and is so brutally raw.

Paris, Texas

Pretty nifty, and great score by Ry Cooder, reminded me of Deadman. Although I always chuckle that every movie with a scene in the Mohave Desert has to show the dinos in Cabazon. :loco:

Oh yeah, Land of Plenty isn't available for rental on DVD yet, but it's saved in my Netflix save thingy. Or something.
