Watched a classic mobster movie last night: Angels with dirty Faces, starring James Cagny. Really good acting and a decent story, while beeing a bit too sappy and preachy at times, worked really well. My only gripe was the ending

UNITED 93 ... was expecting super cheese, but even though the outcome was obvious ... I have not experienced such a tense movie in at least a decade.

Excellent film.

For starters, pretentious. The pedantic postmodern banter that flowed through the first portion of the film surmounted to nothing.

I enjoyed the banter. It had a nice flow. It's refreshing to watch a movie where someone actually took the time to write dialogue.

I saw Jackass 2 on Friday. I haven't had that good a time at a theater in a long while. I was tired of laughing and smiling so much before it was even half over.

I have completely turned around on this film, actually it thought about it for a few days following and that's when I decided I loved it. All of that definitely works to it's advantage.

Finally saw it again yesterday and it's even better the 2nd time around.

I just saw The Changeling, I'm pretty sure it was based on reco from here - JK maybe? Anyway, very much of its era, but I enjoyed it. A decent '80s horror. Also saw Black Dahlia recently, which was very watchable

Judging by the trailer and his previous movies (Pi, Requiem for a Dream) The Fountain seems very promising. Anyone seen it yet?

Got around to watching this movie for the first time. Great swerve ending.

Yepp. Excellent movie.

My fave are American History X, 25th Hour, Green Mile, The Believer, 21 Gramm, What Eats Gilbert Grape, La Professional.

I've watched it like 20 times... And each time I cried like hell in the end.

It's true, film-making doesn't get much more powerful than that. And man Edward Norton's performance... All-round great movie.

I went and saw "Jackass 2" a couple of nights ago. It was funny, but not as funny as the first one. Some of the stunts went way overboard. The beginning and the end sucked, and the part with the sharks seemed really fake, which it would have to have been to make it safe at all.

i saw "el rey de los huevones", funny chilean movie last weekend...it was very chilean. and also funny. in spanish. good luck finding it.
