My girl is largely unsucceptable to anything without clean vocals. She likes Opeth's Damnation, Katatonia, she even seems to be ok with classic metal and stuff like that, minus the cheese factor, which she laughs at. Then I throw her out the window of my car without bothering to slow down.

She also, rather inexplicably, REALLY liked Neptune Towers, despite listening to mostly radio rock herself. Weird-ass.

Neptune Towers=Fenriz's sideproject
The Neptunes=Brit/aka. married to gross Federline guy producers and band with gross shirtless Pharell. Ick.

No comment on the topic as I'm a girl who likes guys. I like metal guys more but if it's someone decent, I'm willing to settle.

it does not matter at all. Personally, I'm more interested in their legs, boobs, butt, face and maybe a little personality than their musical tastes.

ditto

metal chicks are scary ... present company excluded :loco:

Jesus there are so few chicks that like heavy music; even more importantly, those that do, usually dont understand the music, and instead are enthralled with the image of heavy music.

I think chicks dig the more plastic and present seeking musics like pop and dance music; those that have no eternal longings like symphonies some metal etc.

Yup, agreed. I tend to think that it's also connected with the different natures of men and women; metal is generally aggressive music and according to my 'theory' that appeals more to men what with the testosterone and all that; a way of venting aggression without getting into prison.
But it might also be because of social expectations and norms, girls are supposed to (and do most of the time) care more about looks and other strictly outwardly things, placing their focus mainly with the accompanying and accepted pastimes such as shopping, fashion and parties; hand in hand with frivolous music, culture and opinions. Most females are so boring and redundant it almost makes me laugh :yuk: [/misogyny]

I'm so glad I don't fit this sterotyped image... :hypno: As for looks I can only say that all these wannabe-evil male metalheads with their eeeevil t-shirts, bullet belts and grim looks make me crack up regularly. They don't care any less than most superficial pop chicks about what they look like and what impression they leave on others. Every "scene", whether mainstream or underground, has its unwritten laws and rules, and I honestly don't have much respect for anyone who adapts to these standards just in order to fit in. I like people who are open-minded and whose musical horizon isn't limited to only one genre. I know just as many girls who are seriously interested in music as guys who just listen to the radio.
*rant over*

If the chick doesn't like metal, what am I supposed to do/say to her? I mean, one of the things is over after five minutes and once I've told her to make food and get a beer there isn't really much to say...UNLESS she can tell me how much she likes Iron Maiden and how kool I am because I've got this and that album and shit.

My girlfriend's not so much a 'metal chick' as a girl who likes metal. She was into Soil and stuff when I met her, now I've got her into Hatebreed, Dark Tranquillity, Lamb Of God and stuff. We also share enthusiasm for asian extreme cinema, Tony Hawks Underground 2 on GameCube, GTA San Andreas and Timesplitters 2 on PS2, and a bunch of other stuff. Shared interests are cool, it makes hanging out all the time with someone really easygoing and relaxing.

My fianceé is into Guns 'n Roses and she doesn't hate Iron Maiden, and that's good enough for me. As long as she's kind and caring, that's all that matters in the long run...
