Are 3/5 of Kent guys from Finland or were they born in Swedish, but with Finnish descent?
I was thinking this to myself also... I'm not 100 % sure but I thought Sami and Harri were born in Finland and lived in here as kids. But yeah, I'm not certain :erk: . That much I know that they speak very good Finnish with a nice Swedish accent. :tickled:

thanks delirious and everybody else. :)

@mis: are things the same in any style? i mean, aside from personal preference you would say that there are no good bands singing in spanish overall? pop, rock, folk, rap, electronic...?
Well not in pop, not in folk or rap, electronic barely has any lyrics and rock are only carbon copies of other things or overhyped mediocre bands like Caifanes ( who cualify as both ripoff ( they started as a cure ripoff ) and mediocre ( they are mediocre nowdays )). As for metal bands most of the ones that one could say have at least moments of brilliance write lyrics in english. And while i am certainly biased against power metal bands they are just really mediocre when compared to lets say Blind Guardian ( who i still dont like but recognize they have more depth and complexity than this Skylard crap everyone loves here ( Mago de Oz its pretty awfull and overhyped too ).

OH MY GOD YES!!

[edit] other bands i listen to that sing in finnish: don huonot, ajattara, moonsorrow, apulanta, verenpisara, egotrippi, yup, timppa & trio, kari ja karvattomat

cmx and moonsorrow > the rest

I second on Vintersorg and Thåström/Ebba Grön. Vintersorg is folk/progressive metal if you didn't know/it wasn't mentioned above. Vintersorg's latest albums have mostly lyrics in English but the older ones have lyrics completely in Swedish. He's using an elderly style so the words you learn there might not be very useful, but still make it easier to understand grammar and so on. Abramis Brama is old (oooold) style heavy metal with lyrics in Swedish. Haven't heard much myself, but I've been told that they're good. And if you wan't hiphop parody in Swedish, there's Markoolio. :loco:

I have a band again, that means, I know them for ages but just forget last time.
It´s adorable Ratas
From their page you can download a lot of songs, especially recommendable are "Kuumaa Laavaa" (Hot Lava), "Silta" (Bridge), "Loistaa" (beautiful), "Aikamatka" (Timetravel) and "Telepatia". But I like them all. I also saw them live at Tammerfest last year.

Markku is an excellent songwriter, I just think for live-gigs, they need to become a bit more charismatic. Well, they can learn. Better than smashing live-presence and no songs :D
[warning: No metal ;)]

I listen to Apulanta a lot (Finnish) and I'm also fortunate enough to have English translations to some of their songs. It's bloody helpful.

I would like to state there is a Finnish melodic blackmetal + rock mixing band called HORNA
Their songs are excellent and their finnish lyrics are great. They also have some english songs like: Black Metal Sodomy

here´s a part of its´ lyrics:
"Nazarene, nazarene bastard child!
You were born from a whore and you
will bleed like she before!
Sodomy, sodomy, raping you
with my horns and hellish steel,
agony and pain to feel!"

But obviously Shatraug made that song with a smile on his face.
If you wanna know what songs are good, ask from Thanatos. I converted him to Horna-cult. I can at least partly translate(/ruin) the lyrics.

This is one of my favourite part of Horna lyrics,
Song is "Ilman Arvoa Ja Arkkua" [net-released only, through mp3.com]
Part of lyrics:
Kun avaat suusi pyytäen
Kun anot armoa kerjäten
Kusen suuhusi nauraen
Ilman sääliä, nauttien

Ennen loppuasi kärsit eniten
Näet minut poikasikin raiskaten
Haulikolla nussin häntä perseeseen
Näet kauhun käyvän hänen kasvoilleen

translati0n: "Without a casket and dignity"

When you open your mouth to ask for mercy
I and piss into your mouth while laughing
Without pity, enjoying.

The most you suffer right before your end
You see me raping your son also
With a shotgun i fuck his ass
You see terror appearing on his face.

And I am sure the other finns find something stupid with my translations.. well, I am 16, what do you expect :p

@rahvin: you realize that you have just said something nasty about one of the best black metal bands in the world. And the lyrics that I picked, as you can guess already, aren´t really the typical for Horna. So eat your cum, italiano :p

 I mentioned Horna already on the first page of this thread :p
And I saw them live on stage, which was pretty cool. But with translating the lyrics you ruined it all *grins*
Wait a moment: There are bands who write the same stuff in english and people love it, too (Cannibal Corpse, Carcass, Cradle of Filth... and why do all their names start with C?.....)

At this point i would like to clarify that Horna doenst have same kind of lyrics as Cannibal Corpse. At start they were satan satan band but their lyrics have evolved to more "poetic" direction and satan isnt mentioned everytime anymore. Black metal sodomy is good joke. So is ilman arvoa ja arkkua. Their last full-lenght album Sudentaival (journey of wolf) is excellent peace of music.

But surely gore is involved, even on newest songs like Synkän Muiston Äärellä (by a dark memory - little bit "stiff translation")
It involves ideas like raping bishops daughter, hanging the bishop, killing the daughter, annoucing a war against church etc..
D/L "Kun synkkä ikuisuus avautuu" or "Haudanusva", and your soul is sold, i promise.

EDIT: Actually, now as I start think about it.. Horna - Sudentaival is one of the best albums i own. That is quite much.

I bought this "compiled" CD, Hiidentorni/Kohti Yhdeksän Nousua/Perimä Vihassa Ja Verikostossa/Ordo Regnum Sathanas, so "Kun synkkä ikuisuus avautuu" is on it, but I haven´t had time to listen at all. Where in there discography should I put this CD?
I wanna buy the new one next time I am around, too many CDs lying here without being properly considered :/
