thought i might just tell you that the next album (if everything goes well) will be at times, heavier than anything we have done since, the silent enigma... it will still have plenty of nice tunes and quiet moments, but the plan is to destroy when the guitars kick in...:headbang:

Sounds good chief. but I'm still thining about Holly Vallance. Thanks Bane...

So the new album is already on the cards, is it? Have you written songs for it, or are you predetermining the outcome of the album not yet written?

Or are you drunk, like I am?

Because it sounds pretty fucking funny that you'd go from AFDTE to a heavy album like the Silent Enigma....

Somehow, I'm not convinced.

now that is music to my ears, and a smile upon my face,me thinks im gonna like my weekend more than i thought i would, cheers danny.keep safe peeps

Nice to hear that the new album's gonna have good heavy bits in it, although i seem to remember reading an interview with you before AFDTD when you said the next album would be the heaviest since Silent Enigma. It doesn't really bother me how heavy it is though, as long as it is as good as the others. And don't forget to play birmingham when you next tour!!

Let's not get ahead of ourselves, many bands think their new albums will be heavier, but sometimes the songs are written in such a way that extreme heaviness would sound forced. I really don't care whether it's heavy or not, as long as it sounds like Anathema.

your right horn555, but there are a couple of songs on the table that are written and are "heavy". there are also some real nice quiet ones too, but there is never any shortage of them... also i must say that there is no way you could call the next album a metal album, but the influence of bands like sabbath or slayer is still there. i think it'll be a diverse album, with mix of sounds and influences never really heard on one album before, (not that i know of anyway)
still its early days so i cant predict exactly, but it should be a good one.

AGDTE? A Great Day To Exit? ;)

Anyway, I agree, first hear, then believe, I've learned to keep my hopes low to avoid disappointment.

And yeah, it doesn't have to be heavy, Silent Enigma is the least good Anathema album in my opinion, just make a GOOD album, which has structured songs, with a head and tail, instead of the floaty audial "soundscapes" on AFDTE.

Don't listen to that guy :) , please include more of the floaty soundscapes on the next album! A Fine Day to Exit is full of this beautiful guitar noise, but there's never enough of it! More experiments, more broken legs, more experience, more music, more masterpieces! :D

Just curious, if you already have rough cuts of some of the new songs, who is playing bass?

eh eh, the "G" is close to the "F". :p

By the way, is Silent Enigma is the least good of Anathema what's Pentecost 3?

I agree with D. I love the 'soundscapes'!

There are already plenty of bands doing the usual song structure of verse/chorus/verse. I think that's one of the things that makes Anathema special; the fact that they don't restrict themselves to producing songs with a head and a tail.

Personally, I'm happy to leave it up to Anathema. The law of averages suggests that the next album will be good like all the rest, so I'm not concerned at all.

As long as you go easy on the electronics ;)

you guys sound like customers at a market : 'i want more heavy guitars! i want more flotting moments! i want electronica!' haha

take it easy people, just wait & see =)

peace,

I liken it to going to your favourite restaurant. You've eaten there often, you know what you like, so you're just giving the waiter some hints to pass on to the chef!!;)

But in the end you just have to have whatever meal is dished up to you...
