Well, I just discovered this amazing group...The "Dreadful Hours" got me into them and I'm awaiting for their second full lenght record [that I ordered from HMV] entitled "Turn Loose The Swan". At my Opinion, the dark atmosphere, the depressive lyrics and versatil vocal succeed place them on the very top of the doom-metal scenes.

My favourite album is probably the Dreadfull Hours, Turn Loose the Swans follows closely behind. The Dreadful Hours was my first MDB CD and I absolutely love it. Although its perhaps not quite as Doomy as Turn Loose the Swans...if that makes any sense?

Great live band too, saw them at the Mean Fiddler and Wacken. They sounded exactly the same as on CD, except I think Aaron actually sounds more fierce live, his Death Growls sound particulaly harsh.

The song "the dreadful hours" is awesome.
I love this melody at the beginning with the rain,for me it's one of the most loneliest melodies ever composed.

Beside Katatonia MDB is the only band imo which is able to create such a sorrowful sound/atmosphere.

MDB are amazing, probably my second favorite metal band after Opeth. My favorite album is "Angel & the Dark River", just great songwriting and I love the massive use of violin. Of the five albums I have I rank 'em...

'the raven and the rose' is so goddamn sad: the singer just has the mourning, melancholy timbre, and when it segues into that piano thing, i just about cry.

Yeah Saturnix The Raven and the Rove is wonderful...probably my second best on the album...my first being: My Hope, The Destroyer.

About The Raven And The Rose, do you know what this song is all about...I read the lyrics and all but I can't put the finger on it...

I have Turn Loose The Swans, TLATEOTW and The Dreadful Hours, and plenty of the rest on mp3. Turn Loose The Swans is a classic - with The Crown of Sympathy being my fav MDB song ever...

@changso: The Raven And The Rose on TDH seems to be about killing in the name of god, but I'm not sure... anyway, it's a great song

I recently got The Angel And The Dark River. I think it's fantastic. Two Winters Only is soooooooooooo sad . Now I've got to decide which one to get next.
