Nevermore Cancel ProgPower USA VII Appearance

Great news! (Sorry about the hassle, but they weren't my top choice to headline anyway.....good luck!)

Here are my choices, for what its worth:

Shadow Gallery
Shaaman
Labyrinth
Within Temptation
Fates Warning
Savatage (With Zak)
Helloween reunion (haha yeah right)

dude, i dont think glenn needs wishlists right now! though I'm with you on the Helloween option

Symphony X does seem like a logical option, possibly Kamelot too... Although I'd much rather see Glenn arrange something special with Savatage. I know it was done a couple of years ago in one form, but getting a reunion with Zak would surely be headliner material... The guys are all in the US, it wouldn't interfere with TSO, and 'tage hasn't toured in a couple of years and most likely won't this year either!

I have an idea. Why doesn't Glenn call up Arjen Lucansen and invite him to a challenge: He gets with all the singers and musicians playing Prog Power this year and writes a Space Opera. Then, Glenn could produce a reality DVD called "The Space Operist" and sell it at PP VII.

- Tom Englund of Evergrey could play the lonely space orphan deadset in innerstellar adventure

- The dude from Mercenary could play robo Satan 3000 trying to make a devlish deal with orphan boy

- The chick from Epica could play the Venusian Space Princess who falls in love with orphan boy, while trying to flee from her father played by...

- Mattias from Freak Kitchen playing Captain of the Marsian Space Justice Invasion Fleet

- The dude from Savage Circus could play the wandering space mechanic paid a bounty to retrieve the Venusian Princess paid by the MSJIF Captain.

- Michele from Vision Divine could just play whoever does most of the singing considering he has the best voice

- The dude from Wastefall would play Daniel Gildenlow's great great great great great great grandson of the future and be leader of the Communist Party trying to overtake the solar government.

- Lance King of Pyramaze would play space orphan boy's foster family brother who was always jealous and is married to the Venusian Space Princess... which MSJIF Captain and Space Orphan boy are none too happy about.

- Ajren would just play the same stoned out space hippy he always does... we'll find some way to work his character in.

The music would be eclectic kick ass Prog Power metal. The dudes from Epica and their string tallents would really come in handy... just let Arjen write the music for'm.

Sorry... I'm a bit of an Arjen fan boy and today is my day off :worship:

I figure it has to be one of the following 3:

Masterplan
Vanden Plas
Symphony X

I'd love any of those 3 bands in the spot. Geographically, Symphony X might be your best bet, plus their new album should be done by then, if not officially released. Maybe it could be sold at Progpower before it's officially released like lots of bands have done in the past.

Could always do some lineup adjustments and bump Circus Maximus into the roster.

Or CircleIICircle. A bigger catalog to choose from. Circus Maximus would also be killer.

After Forever comes to mind as a headliner.

There will not be a "bump" in the lineup or anyone brought over from the pre-party to fill a hole. I will book a headline caliber band.

This year has been the hardest year of the festival by far and the Nevermore issue only makes it worse.

Wow! I'm not the biggest Nevermore fan, but I was actually looking forward to seeing them at PP where I knew they would get the best chance at sounding great live. :(

Sorry, about the recent developments Glenn -- I know it must be frustrating for you since you thought this part was behind you. I'm sure something will fall into your lap that will blow your mind as well as everyone elses. These things have a strange way of working out! Best of luck to you in putting this hiccup behind you as well!

I couldn't possibly finish this post without mentioning one thing though...

Enchant for PP VII!!! :headbang:

Nevermore have officially withdrawn from the festival

Anyone else experiencing deja vu here?

It's not my fest, and I'm not trying to piss anyone off... but if it were me, Nevermore wouldn't be pursued again in the future. They've officially cancelled twice after being confirmed for headliner spots for the foremost American metal festival.

How about Pain of Salvation with the orchestra playing "Be" in its entirety? You already have the orchestra for Evergrey, and as far as I know, they haven't played Be outside Sweden. I know many are not fans of POS or Be for that matter, but that would rock! :headbang: and I don't think they would mind coming back!

Also, in an oddball kinda way, how about Atheist? (I know the vocals may be a problem) so far, they are only doing 4 european festivals.

Other's have pretty much covered the other options there are for headline material, maybe except for Porcupine Tree or Spock's Beard, although they are more rock than metal.

I hope you get a great replacement, otherwise... the rest of the bands are still more than enough to get me there!!!

Dragonforce would be great, but not sure if they are "headliner" material....

DREAM EVIL on the other hand..

Fates Warning also a choice of mine.

Sorry to hear the bad luck, but I am sure you will come through..Glenn...you never cease to amaze..

Is there positively no chance that Iced Earth could play a one-off headlining show this year? Studio/health issues aside, I'm sure that Jon does not want to see the premier U.S. metal going today in trouble.

I agree ... Iced Earth is who I would go for if I was Glenn. If I couldn't line that up, I'd go for Symphony X or Vanden Plas. Both should have new discs out by then ... and both are more that qualified to headline this years lineup. I absolutely do NOT want to see Helloween. Helloween is beyond irrelevant these days.
