Nevermore just thumbed their noses at you and the prestigious ProgPower event for the 2nd time and you're mad at those of us who dislike them? There may be a question of chemical imbalance here.
From a fan of (insert band here) band cancelling on the USA's best run metal festival, it does indeed suck much ass.
As a fan of the man who started and has elevated the best run metal festival in the USA, I feel his pain and know how much this sucks the suck out of suck. Knowing this man though, it's a risk he knows he takes with
ANY band he books.
It's called business.
When Nevermore was announced, I was shocked. I never thought I'd see the day that they'd play PP, considering the cancellation at PP1. Business is business though. The demand was there and hatchet's were buried.
Now they cancel on PP again due to a tour,
that they were already booked for, being pushed back, interfering with PP. Sure it sucks the suck out of suck for us who were excited to see Nevermore and, for some of us, to see how business can get done and hatchets can get buried for the exitement of all.
However, as a fan of (insert band here), I want success for said band. Touring with a HUGE, commercially successful band can elevate a bands status and bring them much deserved success: more tours, better album deals, better production budgets, etc. How can you blame them for staying with said
"potentially lucrative" tour?
There is also a potential benefit to this too. Opening bands on big name tours often make friends with the headlining bands. Who's to say mention of PP isn't going to wiggle it's way into the ear of a band with more exposure, with a bigger label, with deeper pockets?
Exposure is the name of the game and people have taken notice of Glenn and PP. That is evident in the 3-day sell outs, the endless list of bands wanting to play and the labels that come back, time and time again.
Booking bands who deserve exposure is Glenn's business. And business is good. Have faith people. 7 amazing fests and counting. I'm sure the replacement will be fantastic.
Wish Nevermore the best of luck. They do deserve it and it's hardly a "thumbing" to the PP crowd.
