Really? Nevermore is my favorite band, but Opeth is Top 5. I think their lyrics are brillaint. They are excellent musicians. Some people can't get passed the cookie monster vocals, and that's understandable. But I think Opeth is one of the most unique bands on the planet.

I agree, they are unique, and quite talented, but none of that translates into strong music imo. The vox does not bother me at all. What bothers me is the boredom I have to battle just to get through a single song. Still Life is their best, but even that album is mundane. I owned every album from Orchid on up and recently sold them all back as I realized I don't listen to them any longer and truly just don't enjoy their music. Being unique and having excellent lyrics isn't enough for me...the music has to come along for the ride as well, which does not occur here.
