You're not alone, I'm not rich aswell...

But I'm planning to buy a guitar one day... I still don't know what kind/brand and when I'll be allowed to have it.

The only thing that I know is just that if I should ever buy one... first I'll have to learn a lot of music theory and learn at least a bit to play too, cause I'd never buy a guitar just to admire it on my wall and stop: I wanna hear its "voice"... it's damn sexy.
