An audio sample of the new DISSECTION single, "Maha Kali", has been posted online at this location. A new video sequence is also available for download by clicking here (right-click and "save target as...").

"Maha Kali" (view cover here), described by the reactivated Swedish death metallers as "a hymn to the wrathful black hindu goddess of Mahapralaya, the great dissolution of cosmos, Jai Maha Kali," will initially only be available directly from DISSECTION via their official web site and on tour.

As previously reported, DISSECTION are currently in the studio with a full lineup, working on their first studio recording since 1995's classic album "Storm Of The Light's Bane".

DISSECTION guitarist/vocalist Jon Nödtvedt was recently released from prison after spending seven years behind the bars for murdering an Algerian homosexual. A short-lived collaboration with former EMPEROR drummer Bård "Faust" Eithun ended in December over "the demands of DISSECTION's Satanic concept." A documentary DVD and a new studio album are expected sometime in 2005.

eghhhh.........not very good.

"Where Dead Angels Lie" isn't that good of a song, but the rest of "Storm Of The Lights Bane" slays. I predict something similar with this one, but I could be wrong.

Not so impressed at all. =/ But its only the first 53 seconds of the song, I need to hear the rest before I can make any comments really. One would think after 7 years in prison he should have some great material for the next album...

it seems really choppy. i dunno if its intentional or what, but it sorta bugs me. otherwise i dig it. i like the folky sounding riff

Weird, I really like that song, but I didn't hear the rest of the album.

Meh. So Dissection went from being a somewhat above-average Gothenburg band pretending to be black metal to an average Gothenburg band (who really aren't going to get away with calling themselves black metal based on this). People are going to make far too big a deal out of this.

EDIT: Random thought -- how many of you would have cared to investigate further if this was a sample of some new, generic band instead of the mighty Dissection? I know I probably wouldn't.

I wouldn't have. While I'm not a fan of Dissection in general, it interests me to see how the new one compares. I was pretty much expecting something like this.

The verse riff at the end is pretty good. The harmony is a bit gay. The intro reminds me a bit of Lord Weird Slough Feg.

Not bad so far.

^That's basically my view on the sample. The production is annoyingly bad though, I hope it's not the final mix...:\

Yes, the production is horrible. Sounds like the same old dry, sterile digital production used today. Some bands can make the most of digital production though, but it sounds as if Dissection is not one of those bands.
