new Iced Earth EP

only knowing Something Wicked and comparing it to the new stuff I must say: GODDAMN, I miss Barlow :(
He had an awesome voice and wasn't nearly as GAY as Owens is.
and also the music sucks now.

well, then again I only liked a few songs from Something Wicked...

Sounded like pretty awesome heavy metal to me. You guys are worse than menopausal women. Barlow is gone, get the fuck over it. The Ripper is a fantastic singer with excellent range and immense talent. Those believing otherwise should be keelhauled.

Im not talking about his delivery. Its perfectly fine if people dont like him or his style, and understandable. I've seen him live and he is an extremely powerful singer, hell you can tell that just listening to The Glorious Burden.

He's not one of my favourite singers but he is fantastic, and I respect him as a fellow singer as well.

yeh, ive barely heard any of Glorious Burden but i did see that video for 'The Reckoning' and Ripper has got really awesome powerful falsetto going on. dare i say, MORE awesome than barlow?! :zombie:

also just listened to the something wicked trilogy for old times sakes, and all 3 songs are better than average modern IE, but the coming curse stands above most of the barlow era material. i remember when this came out i was so looking forward to the completion of the story, now (9 years later) i dont really give a fuck haha. oh well. i might check out this ep to see what ripper did with it.

I definitely agree with that sentiment. Barlow was a great vocalist and all, but what people really loved about him was how emotional his voice is/was. Ripper's range is far greater, and he has much more power in his voice.

Whats with the bands going and rerecording classics. First queensryche then dimmu now this crap?? Where will it end? Swear to god If we get a heart collector revisited Im leaving the forum for good!

What did Queensryche re record????(pardon my stupidity). And playing Devil's Advocate here: the Anthrax/"Greater of Two Evils" and TestAmenT/"First Strike Still Deadly" releases have great versions of classic songs.

Also, where can I find this Iced Earth E.P.?????????

Going against the grain here, but I think it sounds excellent. I would prefer to see Barlow back in, but it ain't gonna happen. I really like Owen's voice. For me he's up there with Dickenson and Dane in the 'you can recognise the vocals in a second category' For me it's nice to hear a unique voice in power metal, compared to the generic Euro style. Gettysburg fucking ruled, an amazing vocal performance (Glourius Burden was weak, mainly due to the cringeworthy lyrics imo) Overall I'm looking forward to the new album(s). It would have been better if they had released an original EP instead of a remake, but it's still good...
