I just saw The Wolfman over the weekend... I enjoyed it.

Now it's not a 'holy crap what a great movie' film but I liked that it paid hommage to the old flick but still got a wee bit modernized... (while people were 'eewwww'ing and grossing out over kill scenes, I'm yelling 'sweet!!' and 'that was awesome!')

I also saw Sherlock Holmes a couple weeks ago - LOVED IT... I'd totally pay to see it again..

I liked the remake of The Wolfman, but there are better werewolf movies out there. However, there are many, many more worse werewolf films, too. I would rate it about 3.5/5

The special effects, especially in the transformation scenes were stellar, though. Which is to be expected when you've got Rick Baker doing your effects!

I want to see both The Wolfman and Sherlock Holmes. I've been meaning to see Legion, but haven't made it to that one either. I have watched The Book of Eli, which I thought was a most excellent movie!

Legion was much better than I expected. I wanted to see it anyway, but I wasn't expecting a whole lot out of the movie. I ended up really enjoying it, though!

Sherlock Holmes was great.

I think it would be cool. There's plenty more movies that we needed less than Robin Hood.

Fast and Furious franchise comes to mind.

The Wolf Man was one of the most boring films I've seen in quite some time. While the transformation is good, it ends up being terrible. The full wolf man costume is terrible because the face is horrid, it looks like it was made on a b-movie budget. All rubbery, and lifeless. The movie fails because there's very little real emotion in it. The story ends up being bland, and is told in this nearly monotone way. It being drenched in blue, as is hip these days, further takes away any life from the movie.

Yeah, I was not a fan.
The movie had a 150m budget even and the effects were not that good and overall were few and far between but I guess that was mostly due to a lot of problems during production which I wish I'd known about as that likely would have told me not to bother with the movie.

I saw the Wolfman as well, and I thought it was great until the dramatic conclusion which had horrible acting by Del Toro. the soundtrack was great, and I liked the old school feel as well. I think its one of the better werewolf movies out there...besides the original this was based on. I absolutely hated An american werewolf in Paris...or whatever the heck its called.

Sherlock Holmes was funny and awesome.

I want to see the Book of Eli, Shutter Island, and that one Peter Jackson flick...something Bones as well as the new Mel Gibson flick.

That depends, there IS a movie called An American Werewolf in Paris, which is a sequel of An American Werewolf in London, in a loose sense. The special effects for it were pretty good, but the story was kind of "meh." But then, I was in high school at the time and still enjoyed it.

However, An American Werewolf in London is a very highly-regarded werewolf film, and not just because of Rick Baker's award-winning special effects. The story and acting were superb, with enough humor thrown in to keep the entire film from being completely horrifying and depressing. I daresay it is THE best werewolf movie released to date.

I also really liked The Howling, though not as much as London, and I really enjoyed Silver Bullet, though it's been years since I've seen it. And Dog Soldiers, though very much a B-movie also remians one of my favorite werewolf movies.

That about sums up the list of werewolf movies I've seen and actually liked.

I went to two movies recently .... Shutter Island, and The Road.

Shutter Island .. was pretty good overall ... kind of long, but for me pretty fulfilling in the end. The cinematography was well done .. eerie & classical music worked well. The acting was good. I thought it was well worth the $7.

The Road .. Viggo Mortenson's latest flick ... book by Cormack McCarthy of No Country For Old Men fame. Post Apocalyptic take of a father & son story. It stuck pretty much to the book, and came off pretty solid overall. The movie has received good reviews, but for some reason never really made it into full release. I had to drive over to Peoria, Il. to see it. It was worth my time ... theater was cool .. they served beer.

Yep, sure is ... it's pretty well done overall. Scorsese directed .. well acted with DiCaprio, Ben Kingsley, Mark Ruffalo, Max Von Sydow, and Michelle Williams.

I have never like this film. I've always thought it was a bit overrated!

I really enjoyed Silver Bullet, though it's been years since I've seen it.

Silver Bullet is a very cool movie though.

Met-Al didn't like An American Werewolf in London, either. So far, you two are the only two people I know that have seen it and didn't like it. Of course, now that I've said that, I'm sure more people will pop out of the woodwork to say "I didn't like it!" too.

But I understand that even the most popular movies won't be loved by everyone. I mean, I thought The Craft was one of the worst movies I'd ever seen, but everyone I knew at the time that movie came out just thought it was the best movie ever. I STILL think it's a horrible film, and I still have people who look at me like I've sprouted a second head when I say that. The same thing happens when I say that I didn't like Underworld.
