the Movies thread

Big Trouble In Little China is indeed awesome.

I watched Full Metal Jacket for the first time the other night. The first half of the film was hilarious and awesome, and while the second half was alright, it was overshadowed by the first.

I thought The Punisher was excellent, it was alot better than I was expecting as it didn't get very good reviews, but I really liked it.

The original Punisher movie with Dolf Lungdren (sp) is awesome. Havent seen the new one.

Big Trouble in Little China is one of the greatest films ever made.

And Michael York should only ever be referred to as Logan 5!

Megiddo sounds very interesting indeed...
They've got a synopsis of the story at the official site.

Big Trouble in Little China :headbang: Have you seen Buckeroo Banzai too?

I used to be able to recite chunks of the movie when I was 7 or 8, Big Trouble that is.

I'm pretty sure I saw it ages ago, John Lithgow was one of the villains right?

Haha! Although the second half is where we have the famous lines from the hooker. Surely a classic in its own right for them alone :D

'Supersize Me' has scared me enough (regardless of whether all the information is accurate or not) that I haven't eaten McDonalds since I saw it 2 or 3 weeks ago.

Hello, you are a fuckhead.

I am so fucking sick of everyone praising this movie as awesome and eye opening. Mcdonalds is bad for you, NO FUCKING SHIT. If you needed to be told that by a movie then you are a moron. I stopped eating mcdonalds because I saw a film and I am awesome.

wanker.

I loved Supesize Me... not because it was teaching me anything (hell, we ate maccas straight afterwards), but I thought it was geniuenly entertaining.

Saw Spiderman 2 last night... thought it was pretty darn good. Doc Ock was awesome... thought though made him a little too sympathetic though. Yes I know he had the right intentions, but he was about to destroy the fucking city! I had to giggle when they mentioned "Dr Connors" though... everyone around me gave me weird looks, like I was laughing because he had one arm.... if only they knew! ;)

Oh and to clear up an earlier point... Big Trouble in Little China isn't one of the best movies... it's THE BEST MOVIE EVER! :kickass:

I agree with Koich that you shouldn't need a movie to tell you McDonald's is shit, but that doesn't mean it can't be eye opening and interesting when presented with facts.

You contradict yourself so much. You agree with me, yet, you also agree with the oposite of what I said?

I am waiting for a "that's not what I meant" or whatever it is you seem to start your contradictory spiels with nowdays.

Go away, you are as bad as serene sorrow. If you think that was eye opening or interesting to be presented with the facts you are a dumb fuck. The facts are, fast food is bad for you, if you eat to much fast food, you will become fat. This has been known for years, IT IS NOT A FUCKING BREAKTHROUGH.

The people that enjoy this sort of shit are the same people who enjoy michael moore movies.

This is another thing that shits me, I am fairly left wing. I like every person, unless they are an idiot. Michael Moore is just a sensationalist fucktard who presents his side, and only his side. The thing is, he makes his side look so hard done by. This is where my problem lies.

Leftists DO NOT need to mimic the right and try and control media in order to win votes. People who are swinging voters will see what is right and wrong and vote accordinly.

Labour will be in Australia this year,

I think he's saying it's interesting to be presented with hard facts... actually shown what happens, rather than just knowing it will happen.

But hey, I could be wrong!

love you Josh ;x

Also... I really really really really really want to see Pretty in Pink, Sixteen Candles and St. Elmo's Fire... but I live in Mildura. So if anyone has the ability to burn these onto CD/DVD (DivX/DVD/VCD) and mail to me... FUKKING MUCH APPRECIATED!!!

erm, I can get dvd's of st elmo's fire and sixteen candles, but I have never seen Pretty in pink on dvd for rental here.

On monday if I rememeber, I'll go to civic video and hire what I can find, and rip em for ya.

Everyone needs to see St Elmo's Fire.

Micheal Moore's last flick, Bowling for Columbine, is quite interesting, and he admits at the begininng he is a member of the NRA, so while being sensationalist he really has made a doco where he is doing what he says, trying to find out why yanks are so violent

I'm yet to see one of his movies, but look forward to doing so.

Life is Beautiful is one of my favourite movies ever....it rocks. As does American Beauty.

Cue someone saying it sucks...... :)

So you are saying you shouldn't need the movie to tell you this, yet it's ok for you to be an ignorant shiteater and have the movie tell you this?

I understand, you never contradict yourself.

and doing it in such a way that he blatently takes things out of context and fakes scenes to get his point across.

That isn't a documentry, that is fiction.

No, you don't understand, as I never said that.

I said, you shouldn't need the film to tell you the food isn't good for you, but I can understand people still finding the film interesting as it talks about specifics of just how bad for you it is etc. Why would finding the film entertaining make you an ignorant shiteater?
