New Opeth album and track titles revealed

Blastbeats in Opeth? Yeah...I'm gonna miss Martin's drumming.

Yes, definitely.

He was one of my favorite drummers.

"In a way, Axenrot's drum break about two and a half minutes into this track - and, indeed, his playing throughout - is just a giant "fuck you" to anyone who might bitch about Martin Lopez's absence. (I gotta admit, before I heard the record, I was in that number myself.)"

So apparently a big fuck you to you guys. :)

I'll be happy when Axe proves everyone wrong too, I've been saying how good he is since I first heard NMF. But it was even more true after witnessing him play live with Opeth multiple times. The Chronology show in Chicago was far beyond anything I had ever expected, I wish that was recorded as the Opeth live album instead of the UK show. It contained more songs obviously, and was absolute perfection.

watershed more like wtfisthatshait.

I'll give it a listen, and I can only hope this is a drastic change which they desperately need by now.

Nope. They've had a similar formula on all their cds pretty much. Just because they have a mix of clean and mellow doesn't automatically make them "creative". That's like saying the latest Tool is unique even though it presents nothing new compared to Lateralus.

There's so much more to it though than relying on the mix of heavy/soft parts. Each riff, drumbeat, vocal line, etc. Things are always evolving with Opeth, I don't think any album is really similar.

its the most daring and diverse album in their discography.
whether u take it in the headphones, in the car, on the stereo... such an experience!
opeth has not repeated themselves.
