New opeth cd

Opeth is my favorite band, I've heard a couple tracks, but unlike just about every single person from the Opeth board I'm waiting till' it "hits the streets." I want to take a nice bath with candles lit, booklet at hand, while listening to it for the first time. No drugs involved.

It's pretty damn good.

I'd say..prog album of the year.

Metal Album of the year though? ehhhh.....don't know. TGE really does kick my ass.

sorry I don't consider Nevermore prog.

Don't even bother with him...he's an idiot with little brains and smaller knowledge. If he thinks the production on TGE sucks and this Opeth is better than TGE...he's obviously "special"

He likes to incite...he's 19 and obviously a child that doesn't know metal...don't play with him.

the thing with the new album is that its just another opeth release. Its still VERY good, but again, just another opeth album. Nevermore is one of the few bands that releases a great nevermore album all the time that at the same time is significantly better than the last.

It isn't 1/4 the album Ghost Reveries is.

The album is fantastic. I've listened to it twice and it seems more genuine than anything they've released since "My Arms Your Hearse". Perhaps it will grow on me more, but I'm quite pleased as it is.

I'm sorry, what was that? All I heard was "I'm a big asshole who downloaded it illegally, then came to another band's forum and shit on them for no reason"

Can't wait to hear it though, excited.

I've only heard two songs...but judging from those two songs and everyone's feedback from listening to the whole thing, it's significantly a different opeth album. Way more skillfull, refined and diverse than anything they've done. Alot of different elements and ideas including the experimentation with keyboards...more of a proggish release. Ghost Reveries seemingly is a significantly better and different release than other Opeth albums, more so than the new Nevermore is compared to their previous. My opinion anyway. What's different about the new Nevermore is that it's alot heavier and faster than the others, with more riffs in the songs.

It's a great album. I prefer This Godless Endeavor though, it's all opinions people.

Makes you wonder how much creativity Opeth has left though. I mean, all their albums have hordes or creative energy and just makes you wonder how much they've got left. Or if they're running out at all.

I can't see them running out of they stay true to their style now...they are simply amazing and four of the most talented musicians I've ever heard. Needless to say that's another release I'll be waiting for to hit the stores!

Still, i'm not going to get into a debate with these morons...the Opeth board goes down and they migrate here and bring their inspid brand of infancy with them...it's not welcome here!

I have listened to the album yesterday, and all I can say is that I am certainly not disappointed. But I can't really judge it yet since I've only heard it once just yet. I guess I have to hear it at least five times. For now, my favourite song of the album is Isolation Years.

I was surprised at how many mellow parts or songs there were in the album. They have certainly, like many have said, experimented.

Sorry that most of us Opeth fans are coming here, but it's probably since most of us like Nevermore too (?). I know I really like 'm (hell, Jeff Loomis is my favourite guitarist ;) ). I hope we'll get along until we have "our" forum back.
Oh yeah, and I will definitly buy "Ghost Reveries" when it comes out.

TGE is just another Nevermore from a band who is obviously creatively stagnant. Sure, it's good for what it is, but what it is has been done by them many times before. This is a new sounding Opeth, and Opeth was a million times better than Nevermore to begin with. Besides, the production on GR is way better than TGE.

Great album, certainly different to everything they've done before. I'd have to say at this point it does supersede TGE, for me. TGE, as customary of a great metal album, is loaded with great riffs and hooks - Nevermore's trademark. But Opeth's albums have always been more of a journey, something perhaps for those who are more patient and want the music to unravel for them in sequence.

I think I gave the Opeth album the listening experience it deserved and I wasn't disappointed. There are some disappointing aspects of the album though, which I'll end up citing later, after this fanboyhood has worn off.

I just downloaded the album last night.

I will be buying it soon and I think it is a good album. Not their best but among their top 3.

I nominate this post for both the "Most Pretntious Bullshit Post of the Year" and "Lamest Troll" awards.

All I've seen you do here is shit on Nevermore and Sneap.
If you truly believe TGE is "creatively stagnant", you've just destroyed 99% of any credibility your opinnion may have had with anyone who likes metal.

Go away.
