New opeth cd

Opeth is my favorite band, I've heard a couple tracks, but unlike just about every single person from the Opeth board I'm waiting till' it "hits the streets." I want to take a nice bath with candles lit, booklet at hand, while listening to it for the first time. No drugs involved.
me 2 man!!!!!!!

bah

I like both bands equally, and I don't care to tear either apart.
I just appreciate what they create. I know I'm not capable of producing anything like that, so why should I be judgemental.

*shrugs*

Anyway, I haven't heard anything from the new Opeth CD, but i'm sure its killer (as always). :headbang:

Amen! I realize people are passionate about their bands, but trying to convince each other that their opinions are wrong...is assinine...you can't....stop trying:ill: Making statements like Opeth sucks/Nevermore sucks is a rediculous waste of time. Neither band sucks, they are both great at what they do, you can't compare them/ nor convince their respective fans to change their outlook of what they do. I remember having pointless arguements like this on another board...and it never got anybody anywhere but pissed off:Smug:

Both bands have mutual respect for each other, evident by the fact that Mikael Akerfelt praises Nevermore constantly and consistantly, and Nevermore brought them on tour and even yoinked a couple riffs and style points from them on This Godless Endeavor.

However, on this dadgummed thing called the Internet, everyone takes opinions as verbal threats, and shit blows way up out of proportion.

Nevermore has never claimed to be "progressive" , and thus they haven't "progressed" (whatever the hell definition you're using for that word) as much as Opeth has in their tenure as a band.

Opeth is a progressive death metal group, and as such, has reinvented their sound every time they've put out an album, and for that, and a multitude of other reasons, I really like them. Its a new musical journey every time they put out a record, but one that you really need to listen to to get anything out of. I cant tell you how many times I've sat down and absorbed their music, and gotten chills from certain passages.

Nevermore is a much more consistant band... when you pick up one of their albums, you know what you're gonna get. Some seriously heavy thrash riffing, with ridiculous over the top shreddery, soaring power vocals and introspective society condemning lyrics. They might throw a curve ball now and again, but they have no intention to top The Rite of Spring.

So to close, shut the fuck up, and you're all gay.
