New opeth cd

New Nevermore is their best effort yet. Adding Smyth to the lineup seriously pushed them far. I love Opeth as much as the next Agalloch, but I'm getting goosebumps when I listen to This Godless Endeavor. The lyrics are written out so well, the music is perfectly crafted, can't ask for anything else. They just plain rule.

Hey Devy Metal. While I agree with you about Devin, saying that Nevermore progresses is the most asinine thing I've ever read about anything in my entire life. Thanks for the laugh. Opeth went from Orchid and Morningrise to Ghost Reveries. JUST LISTEN and if you don't think there's been progression you need to chop your ears off.
You're a colossal fucking idiot and your ears are broken. Get the fuck off this board, numbshit, and come back when you've heard something besides "Believe In Nothing."

And before you mouth off about how you've heard such and such album and your opinion is informed, please consider that if you actually have heard any worthwhile amount of Nevermore, then you have no excuse for being so completely fucking wrong. Better to just be ignorant than an utter dumbass.

Jewfro Justice. :headbang:

but I'm getting goosebumps when I listen to This Godless Endeavor

A song like Ghost of Perdition gives me goosebumps. I don't know, but "beautiful" music brings great emotions to me, not the speedy riffs of Nevermore, which to me is essentially done in classic metal-style. It really does sound like we've been there before.

Hey, don't get me wrong, they are excellent musicians and by far don't suck or anything, it's just so far this sort of music doesn't "do" anything for me. I listen and it's just another metal song to me. I guess nowadays I'm slowly getting out of metal (well, the thrashy-kind for the most part)- all these bands these days just sound kinda the same in some way or another to the point where one particular band doesn't standout.

I heard the tracks Final Product, The Psalm of Lydia and A Future Uncertain. As far as this kinda metal is concerned, some of the best I have heard recently - sure as hell beats out Lamb of God. I must say the soloing in PoL is simply top-notch and executed with fucking amazing skill. The 2:20-ish acoustic part was a nice touch as well. Good, not extraordianry to me though. The vocals still take alot of getting used to - hard for me to get into them.

That's just it...he's a child and NOT informed...he spouts off useless jargon posing as knowledge and assumes the role of metalhead when clearly Spice Girls is too tough for him to comprehend after the fourth "I wanna...I wanna...I wanna huh!"

To quote Sopranos..."Men are talking...be quiet!"

TGE is just another Nevermore from a band who is obviously creatively stagnant. Sure, it's good for what it is, but what it is has been done by them many times before. This is a new sounding Opeth, and Opeth was a million times better than Nevermore to begin with. Besides, the production on GR is way better than TGE.
Get out

Lol, you would rep points for that one.

Intelligence runs rampant on this board. I'm actually a Nevermore fan. I LOVE Dreaming Neon Black and Politics of Ecstasy and have been a fan for years. I've seen them live twice. Claiming that I've only heard Believe In Nothing is a pretty narrow minded assumption. My 3 points were:

1. Ghost Reveries is better than This Godless Endeavor.
2. Andy Sneap is a bad producer.
3. Nevermore has never progressed.

Never did I once bash Nevermore, but I don't like their latest direction. Throw a fit over it.

My God, you really are THAT dumb :erk:

If you're a Nevermore fan, they sure can't use any more like you.

Now, for you points...

1. All subjective in regards to which CD is better
2. Again, all subjective...I guess...even if you are suffering hearing loss.
3. Now you're an idiot...and that's not opinion...it's FACT! They haven't
progressed? You have heard NOTHING else by the band or you simply
look to disrupt the board with your non-sensical, amateur insight.

Thanks, but men are talking...hush your mouth.

how can you compare the 2? intermingling genres of metal and comparing bands isn't a good way to determine anything. both bands are great leaders in their respective genres, but you cant compare a progressive death metal band to a thrash metal band.

andy sneap is a great metal producer for bands that want to sound crisp, and ahead of their time. you wouldnt hear abbath asking sneap to record a immortal reunion cd. again, production in metal varies within the subgenres. who really cares anyway? at least kelly grey didnt produce ghost reveries :D

and lastly, nevermore HAS progressed. from the grungy sanctuary-like s/t and in memory, to the sitar-laden songs on the last 2 albumns? including some of the best effects ive ever heard in RECORDED music? listen to what tomarrow knows then listen to i voyager. same band, different sound and different time.

1. Opeth sucks, but that's neither here nor there with regards to this tangent.
2. As DFH said, Andy's got a very "modern" sound. It works for some bands, not for others. I think it works for Nevermore, though I'd personally prefer for Andy to shut down his studio and reform Sabbat.
3. You're so wrong it hurts my eyes to read your post. Please get the fuck off this board before I start drinking.

Well put, Deathstrike! To be able to listen to the S/T to Politics to DNB to TGE one can hear the progression into more techincal riffs (void of saturation) and incredibly intense lyrics that never seem to get weak...ever.

It's amazing how little people actually know, yet claim to be in tune with, yes?
