New Slate Digital Plugin

The comparisons have been done between all his plugins / hardware, and the real deals they emulate / copy. The verdict is they sound just as good if not better then the real thing. Why not do this. I think its fucking brilliant!

It just has to be cheaper then a 4k ....lol

The amount of R and D costs for something like this must be astounding. I really don't see how he can be profiting enough for that, but he gets props for being a wild thinker! No limits. In reality, this will sell as well as that other desk he designed aka, it won't sell hardly any. But give it a week and Behringer will have a copy!

holy cow! that was unexpected and what I would call having huge balls!
lot's of great ideas on that device but what's with the touch screen?
I realize touch screens are everywhere these days but I'd prefer something more tactile like with real knobs and buttons.
However, if it speeds up the worklow, which I don't know if it does, it's really useful.
I appreciate the inventiveness and I applaude the company for that and hope they sell many units.

This is way different than the Raven that he debuted ten months ago at NAMM. Maybe it will be great but TBH it looks like it would burn your corneas out after a 10 hour day. Am I the only one who thinks that the iphone 5 doc is an ominous sign for the length of time they'll support this product?
I certainly agree that cost will make or break this idea.

Seems pretty interesting, but I'm wondering how long it would take before you'd have a lot of permanent visible wear marks on the screen from repeat usage.

Why? The lightning connector is brand new, so it'll probably be around for the next 5-6 years at least, after which I'd imagine it'd be time for a refresh of the Raven - I hear ya on the brightness though

I'd imagine like any screen, they'd be able to adjust the brightness/contrast. It's a standard screen feature. It's probably that bright to make it look really awesome on the video.

Agree with the comment about this being a very bold move from Slate. I imagine they'd be made to order, can't imagine he'd have a load of these units sitting around. Great idea, although I can't see it taking off in too many studios!

I like it. Cost's going to be a huge factor here. Having tested Pro Tools on several multi touch devices, a 30" multi touch monitor that was very cheap, and a 27" all in one device, even v-contol. The concept is sound, but my concern is how much more added value are you going to get. I know it does a lot more than just adding a touch screen but I can do all that already. So I'm asking myself if I buy this is it really worth the price difference compared to just adding a multi touch monitor?

I think it's pretty amazing. Curious on the cost, I am betting it's not something I will be able to afford though

I hear you, but I can't think of another situation where you would be 1 foot away from a 46" screen for hours on end. The nature of the setup puts you closer to a bigger screen than you are to a smaller screen in a conventional setup. It just looks to me like it would get annoying.
It is a cool concept for sure for me, I'd rather have a smaller screen with conventional faders-- I'd also rather have the original Raven concept.

New unknown product

10 products is too much? Best go and tell just about EVERY other pro audio manufacturer in the world.

Multi-tiered plugin development, hardware outboard, consoles (now with touch screen), monitoring... yeah, that's a lot to be doing considering the existing products either get announced and never see the light of day (old Raven console, old monitor set) or are just not supported at all after their release (Trigger anyone?).

Ok, watched the video, but didn't quite understand something. Is it a stand alone system, or is it simple a surface controller and you need a DAW on a separate PC attached?

Looks very nice and very useful, I think there'll be a market for it and I doubt price will be too high ($3000?). However, I think audio editing (eg slicing WAVs) will be much easier and precise with a mouse, at least a hard habit to break.

A good demo would be riding a fader and writing automation.
