But as they say, “If English was good enough for Jesus, it’s good enough for me!”

Obviously there's still some use to learning history and philosophy without being able to read Hegel and Nietzsche in their native language, but aside from a few such exaggerations it's a well-written call-to-action letter. I hope you're able to win the fight for your department dude. Of course, if there's a need for budget cuts it may be hard to suggest more expendable State budget items than a language program at a university. (It may be worth coming up with some of those suggestions in order to help your cause.)

edit: You might want to advocate that the language department stay open at least long enough to graduate its currently enrolled students, without accepting any new ones. That might prove to be a more successful bargaining tactic if you're going to be campaigning on the issue any further.

I'm sorry, but that letter is way too god damn over the top. Like, at least a mile over the top of a 3 foot barrel. You're like Miracle Whip, you refuse to tone it down.

I have to agree, dude. You're supposed to be some arrogant intellectual peering down from his ivory tower; that requires a degree of subtlety and restraint.

The first thing that came to mind after I read that was this:

One 1 minute with change sample, and the other two are whole songs.

You sound like you'd fit right into an Andrew Lloyd Webber musical.

Not quite sure if you could stay in key for that though.

I made this private videotape for you Mr. Henderson.

Going to see a friend I haven't seen in a while (ok, a week and a half but it feels like forever since we hang out all the time) tonight, going to the mall to throw money at clothes stores. Desperately in need of new shoes as most of mine are either black boots (not ideal for spring warmth) or have holes in them.

I just found out from my mother, which she kept it a secret to me for almost a year, that a friend of mine who had the same type of cancer that i had, and shared the room in my early hospital days, has passed away. I fell a little bit of depressed. He was a pretty good guy. His brother donated blood for me when i was in urgent need of it. The cause of his death was, his immunity never increased to normal levels, and as i remember, he was having troubles with sinusitis. He was having surgeries every 2 or 3 days. Obviously, those infections spread through his brain and he died.
