Thats rad! I cant even fathom how much fun it must be to stomp to Les Vilains.

I swear if Muzzy had sang "Le Violeur" to me in the fourth grade, everyone would know French. 9 year olds would run around with nooses in the name of "hanging em high"!

I think Sharon will move the situation a great deal forward, hopefully for all parties involved. I dont believe in no civil war, but some of those settlers sure seem pissed off, thats for sure. Are they orthodox? because if they are, arent they supposed to wait for the messiah to return to their "land of promised milk and honey" or whatever its called?
The problem makers are a small group of extreme fanatic settlers. I don't know about any waiting for the messiah, but they seem to have mixed somehow zionism and judaism. Regardless, they are the most dangerous group in all this mess, causing destability. The army are not exluding the possibilty of those extremists opening fire upon the soldiers that will come to evacuate the settlemnts.
We shall wait and see. This situation sux for me from egoistic motives also, since I'm recruited in July '05.

Yes. But there are many ways of getting away without doing. I just concider this unapproporiate given the circumstances. Personally me will not get to combat units, because I'm an only child, and the law says my parents have to sign papers to allow it. And they won't. But still, there are so many ways to die in Israel :) Most of them apply to the rest of the world though...

Well, i meant joining combat groups. I guesss your not going to gain many ranks if you havent fought in combat if you know what I mena. I hope you just dont end up with the the borderguards - they call themselves the biggest patriots of israel but they seem to be the biggest assholes to me.

About combat groups and ranks:
There are two types of combat units in the IDF:
1. Volounteer based
2. Obligation based

The 1st are elite infantry units, to which one can freely and willingly after he had past all the tests (physical and similar).
The 2nd are the regular infantry (and not only, it is also armor, artillery, sappers etc).
In both cases, you need to have both-sided agreement: The army can't force you to join combat units if you don't want to (at least about infantry).
Concerning ranks, everybody come out after 3 years of service at a 1st sgt. rank. In combat units the advance in the ranks might be faster, but still it is 1st sgt. to all.

About borderguards - they actually belong to the Israeli Police, rather than the army. I will not reffer to what they do, because I know some ppl that been there, All I can say is that they are forced to deal with much more crisis situations in real time.
Assholes or not, it ain't easy being green. And if there was no threat for Israel's security, most probably there would have been no soldiers in all those places they are now.

Edit:
If you're an only child, your parents must sign papers that they agree that you go to combat units.
Girls can volounteer to combat units also.

Yeah ok, the tv programm i saw about the border(line) guards was probably heavily socialist/leftern/propalestinian influenced propaganda shit, as with most programs about the middle-east conflict shown in europe. They obviously choose what videos and information they want to share so i guess basing my opinion on these people from these shows would be a bit stupid I suppose. but it seems a bit unfair sometimes to some of the palestinians that they cant move so freely - not that i care really, but there yu go

being nationalist myself, im sensible to all other nationalisms in other countries, hence i'm pro palestinian, and for the israelien "freedom" of having a country of their own. so this is a true problem :p but indeed TV programs tend to show israel as the bad guys but defending their rights at the same time cause of sionism in the media which is undeniable.

My new years resolution is to outshred Jeff Loomis of Nevermore. Not for competetive reasons, just because if i could outshred him i'd be godly like him on guitar. But i'll probably have to make this resolution about 30 more times before I'm anywhere close.

Well I do believe that the Audience likes the Underdogs. 30 years ago it was Israel. Now it's the Palestinians. And the TV and Media never gave an objective coverage.
Freedom of movement? Gladly. The checkpoints are not for detaining civilians but to try and stop hostile elements from entering Israel.
Anyways, now the Abu Alla (Abbas) was elected, things might change.

What do you think of Obadiah Shoher's views on the Middle East conflict? One can argue, of course, that Shoher is ultra-right, but his followers are far from being a marginal group. Also, he rejects Jewish moralistic reasoning - that's alone is highly unusual for the Israeli right. And he is very influential here in Israel. So what do you think?

uh, here's the site in question: Middle East conflict
