Next Tranquillity album

Villain: I didn't know they had said that before "Projector". *shocked* Well, i won't take interviews too seriously anymore then. ;)

Kov: True. Still, it would be nice to see them release another masterpiece like "The gallery". "The mind's i" and "Haven" are amazing, and "Damage" and "Character" are quite good, but nothing quite beats "The gallery". IMO, of course. ;)

Also, that the lyrics be more poethic and kinda romantic.
That's the one thing that I don't wish to see. The lyrics on Skydancer to The Mind's I are great, but generally I prefer the social and political commentary alike to the latest albums, especially Character.

I'm personally bored with political commentary. So much Bush-talk for so many years have sickened me out of my mind. Even though i have a lot to say and there are some very good songs about politics in general (not just about Bush), i prefer not to say them (the things) nor hear them (the songs).

I believe "Character" is more social commentary than political commentary.

Well, it was said quite a while before they recorded Projector, so most likely even they didn't know what was to come. But recalling some old interviews, it seems obvious that there was a very strong determination within the band to do something different after The Mind's I - they needed to break the boundaries they had set for themselves (and for the whole Gothenburg-sound) by their previous albums. There was even a paragraph on the old DT-site that said something along the lines of: "We are now getting close to the logical end of our creation." They probably didn't know even themselves how their fourth album was going to differ from their previous style before they started to write the songs, but they certainly wanted to create something new, something unique. And Projector was the result. It is a great album, but to be honest I'm quite happy they never tried to make another album like it.

As for the new album, if I could choose one aspect of Character that I'd want to keep the same, it would be the electronics. For everything else, they can experiment as they like, but I really want to hear another album with the perfectly deep mass of sound that the band (Brändström mainly) created for Character. The keyboards on Haven and Damage Done worked for those albums, but they probably wouldn't have worked another time, while the style of keyboards used on Character could work on another DT-album, I believe. Of course there can be new sounds and variations, but I want no keyboard-solos, nor the typical boring blackmetal-synths; I want the beautiful, ever-present electronics of Character once more, thank you.

That made me feel nostalgic; i miss “The gallery” and “The mind’s i” (not that “Damage” and “Character” aren’t good, but i’m kind of fed up with DT going in that direction). =(

I have the same opinion.

Also agreed.

I don’t see why the electronics on “Haven” or “Damage” (take “Fabric”, “The wonders” and “Single part of two” as representative examples) wouldn’t work on another album. As i’ve said before, i believe something in the line of “The mind’s i” with “Haven”’s electronics and “The gallery”’s female vocals would work for me. I know they won’t remake those albums, and i don’t want them to, but, as i mentioned above, i’m getting tired of the direction they’ve been taking with “Damage” and “Character”: more speed metal and less black metal, songs that are just a bit more obvious in meaning, less poetry and more self-insight (in the case of “Damage”) and social commentary (in the case of “Character”).

I can almost assure you that those will be present in the next album. I don’t know if they’ll ever resort to the electronics-only-for-background-effects mentality typical of other bands, but i highly doubt they’ll just take them away from one album to another.

it would be cool if they went into a minimalist direction. using less density in their sound. less tracks (in the mixing room). more singularity. focus on a single sound or voice.

That would be interesting, but it would also require a considerable change in their direction - I think the material wouldve had to be less metal and more "avantgarde".
