Next Tranquillity album

My opinion is that the best way is into a lot of experimental and electronic things.
A progressive way is also ok, but I don't think that it is the best way. Also a real metal opera is ok.

For some reason, I think DT might put more emphasis on electronics. I wish they'd pull out an industrial-metal album. Think Front Line Assembly's "Millenium", DT style. I'd certainly dig that

Anyhow, I'm sure they won't disappoint, they never did :p

I think they should venture deeper into the waters they explored when making Projector and Haven, there is a huge potential there. Songs in the vein of Nether Novas and Fabric would rock my cradle for a very long time.

I haven´t been fully killed by new material of DT, but they´re still work in a certain way - more that thank you, as that is what they seem to do best right now.
Only thing that has started to bother me is - though I have always thought that I´d never had to say this - vocals of my favourite superhero M. Stanne. They´re kind of monotonic and arranged in a boring way resulting in as the weakest downstroke in the deadmetal-riff. Lyrics, on the other hand, are as super as they used be when I started listening to them.

I think some more rehearsing the songs before entering the studio might do the trick.

To me...

While on "The gallery", "The mind's i", "Projector", "Haven" and even "Skydancer" and "Damage done" there were always some songs that totally stood out and were unquestionable masterpieces (do i really have to list them?), on "Character" there don't seem to be such songs. Sure, "Am i 1?" and "My negation" are very nice songs, but nothing really seems totally new and perfect, as with other songs. Nothing on that album really seems to stand out from the rest of the album, or even from the rest of DT, for that matter, the way some songs used to.

I think the Golden Age of Tranquillity was over the minute they released "Damage done".

I actually really enjoy Damage Done, it's one of my favorite CD's by them.

O, I see. What about Haven though? I've noticed a lot of similarities between the two (or was Haven released in 2001?)

2000. And yes, there's a lot of similarities, but "Haven" is more into electronics and a tiny bit of the remains of "Projector" (i.e. "Emptier still") while "Damage" is more like "Character". A good album ("Damage"), but a step down from "Haven". Plus "Haven" is more solid as an album, i think. Perfect opening track, almost perfect ending track, very solid in-between, and not quite something totally different from their previous material (those clean vocals in "Emptier still" will always be a strong connection between "Haven" and "Projector").

Thanks.

Even though i'm not sure i'd like DT to keep going in the direction they've taken since 2002 (and they probably will), i can't wait for their next album. What do you guys think, late 2006 or early 2007? And will we get an ep "teaser"? What would you like?

I'd prefer not to have an EP. I don't know why, but I just kind of get this "unorganized" feeling when a band has 16 albums, and half of them are EPs that are only sold in stores for a limited amount of time. Anyway, I think Skydancer through The Mind's Eye are one era of DT, while Projector through Character is another. I think both "eras" have ther qualities, and I want their new album to fall in the latter.

Well, on the "outstanding songs" thing. I don't see this on the newer albums, more on "Gallery" and "Mind's I"... Especially "DD" and "Character" are totally great albums, imho, without any weak song. Or only average. Or only good. You know what I mean. An outstanding song in one of those cannot be written. It would be the song of the millenium... ;)
(Ok, joking a bit in the last 2 sentences)
