Anyone know how to record synth tracks using native instruments FM7 onto Protools....I'm having some issues with it, any help would be appreciated.

But normally it works like this:

create an (stereo) Aux input and a Midi-Track
Than route the Midi output to the Aux.

That's it...

Or you stick it into a instrument input but this ain't working with older synths, strangley....

Instead of wasting Aux tracks route the midi to an instrument track (if you're using PT 7.x)

yes I'm running protools 7.1 on my PC...how do you route the midi to an instrument track?...it seems as of now I can't run protools and the FM7 at the same time. I'm a complete noob at these things.

If you have an rtas version you should find the FM7 as a plugin. Add the plugin on the instrumenttrack and then head to the output of the midi channel and route that midi track to the FM7 plugin. Simple.
