NIGHTWISH 2007 USA TOUR

IMO, like it or not, Tarja's vocals were what made Nightwish Unique. Call it odd or out of place if you will. But bottom line, without Tarja, they are now just another band with a female singer. A good one, but I fell in love with the old Nightwish because it was odd and out of place (or rare even). Now they have lost a bit of their luster or shine but I will contiune to be a fan for a long time to come.:headbang:

I disagree. The first three Nightwish albums had a very unique sound that distinguished them from the other bands out there at the time, and I believe they would have gained the recognition they did even without Tarja (who I think is a fantastic singer). Their newer material (Once in particular), saw them falling into the generic "female fronted metal" sound, and this is where I would say Tarja's voice was their saving grace. With the change of singer, it comes down to whether you like the more 'pop' style or not since the nostalgia value of the original singer is gone, and it just doesn't cut it for me. :erk:

I disagree...I can understand how Wish I Had An Angel turned some fans off due to it's house-like drum sound and maybe Nemo had a more mainstream feel, but those were singles. The rest of the album, songs like Planet Hell, The Siren, Creek Mary's Blood, Romanticide, Ghost Love Score...those are anything but generic sounding IMO.

BTW, does anyone else love Dead Gardens...nice heavy track, cool chorus and kickass bridge, but it seems to get overlooked.

I was standing on that level in front of the soundboard (next to the garbage can) for all of NW and if I remember correctly the girls you're referring to would have been toward the left (when facing the stage). I didn't notice any gross texting although it would definitely be annoying if the texting people were blocking the view of people who wanted to watch the stage. I was stuck behind some tall people so I had a hard time seeing, but it wasn't too bad. There were a few irritating things going on by me, but nothing serious.

Yeah, I was NEXT to the soundboard, on the left if you were facing the stage. I was going crazy during Nightwish, perhaps you saw my hair.

The girls weren't blocking anyone (they were sitting down with their feet hanging into the soundboard area), but it was just plain rude - one of them watched the band, but the other one didn't lift her head up ONCE.

Wow! I just got out of the Seattle show and it was awesome! It took them a couple songs to get the sound dialed in but after that it was great! Annette was wearing a pirate costume (it is Halloween) and looked and sounded wonderful. Marco, umm... didn't wear any pants. I assume that was his nod to Halloween. Just a pair of briefs with a flame job. I just wish he would've slung his bass just a little lower. The set-list was about the same as elsewhere. The only song we got that I don't remember reading in the earlier posts (and I haven't read every single post in the thread) was 7 Days to the Wolves. Strangely they didn't play Eva, have they been playing it elsewhere? It's probably my least favority song on the cd CD but, seeing that it's the first single, I'm surprised they didn't play it.

The crowd was a sell-out and it was a mad-house. I haven't been packed-in at a show in 15 years or so (I normally don't hear for the rail anymore but I did tonight). It's good to see them getting the credit they deserve but a selfish part of me longs for the last couple times they came through when they played the smaller clubs and it wasn't so packed. Oh-well, good for them.

Lastly, even though I haven't heard it in a long time, when they went into Wishmaster all I heard in my head was "Hamster! A Dentist! Hard Porn! Steven Seagul!" That song is forever ruined for me.

lol, same thing happens to me, that you tube video ruined the song for me

GREAT, now you ruined it for me too. I had not heard of that before now. That is just too damn funny!

Yep, us too. This along with the Spongebob picture in my head with the Sonata Arctica song and the McDonalds ding fries are done guy every time we go see TSO at Christmas time.

Did Marco have toilet paper streams hanging from his arms? Maybe he was dressed as the Dark Angel. I can't find the video on youtube for the life of me, and I can't remember who the band was that he did it to.

Marco did the on stage during Charon performing their song "Little Angel" on European tour in summer 2002.

The clip can be found on Nightwish's End Of Innocence-DVD.
