The new album is great (after one listen) I noticed that they lost the shoegazer sound so associated with Katatonia, i think at times it's almost too heavy. I need to listen more, Overall i'm pleased though

I have been saying the same thing, but damn it is catchy as hell, prepare for a new addiction guys!!

Well, I've listened to Viva Emptiness about 3 times through now and I'm not sure whether or not I like the new sound as much as LFDGD. It's a very good album from what I can tell, but none of the songs (except for Evidence) stick out in my head as memorable really. Some of them just have the wrong guitar tone, in my opinion at least. I listen to Katatonia when I want to cry myself to sleep, not headbang! I'm still satisfied though, I'll just have to get rid of my past stereotype of Katatonia I guess!
